Dr. Vierra is my kind of guy. Right down to it! LOVE HIM~!! I mostly dealt with PA Deirdre. She has been the person directing, advising, listening, guiding and OH MY she is so informative!! Pre and post op she is my go to person. Dr. Vierra's staff is spot on. I was sleeved on 5/17/2016, 7 weeks post op , I am down 26 pounds last I looked about a week ago..

Today is my two year anniversary of my gastric bypass surgery that Dr. Vierra performed. I am so grateful to Dr. Vierra for his help during the whole process. He was so helpful in making sure that I made the right decision about the band vs. bypass. I appreciated that he was honest with me about his track record in performing bariatric surgery, since that was a real concern for some of my extended family. What impressed me the most, though was his genuine interest and concern in me and who I was and that I had a good support system at home so that the surgery would be successful for me. He wanted me to succeed. At each post-op visit he would ask about my relationship with my husband to make sure that we were doing well and that my success in losing weight wasn't causing friction in our marriage because he had seen it happen in other relationships. Because my marriage means everything to me, I deeply appreciated his concern. At my last visit to his office before we moved overseas, it was so great to see the look of genuine surprise on Dr. Vierra's face when he walked into the room and saw me. It was the first time he'd seen me in several months because I'd seen the new NP in the group. It was a great self-esteem boost!

I continue to get emails from his office about post-surgery care and they are always willing to talk if I need to discuss any concerns. I feel 100% comfortable recommending Dr. Vierra to anyone who is contemplating bariatric surgery. I know it doesn't always go perfectly, but I am so glad I made the choice I did and that I had the doctor I did! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I love with Dr. Vierra he is so kind and good hearted. He is always asking my friends about me that have had surgery and seeing how I am feeling all the time. I dont have any problems or concerns about Dr. Vierra I always feel he is going above and beyond to make sure that I am feling great. Future patients should know that the best thing you can do with Dr. Vierra is to be honest and let him know really what you are feeling and ask every questions becuase if he doesn't have the answer he will get it for you. Dr. Vierra truly cares about aftercare he always checks up on his patients and makes sure that he knows whats going on with you if anything. I would rate Dr. Vierra a 10 he is FANTASTIC.
Dr. Vierra has both surgical competency and a great bedside manner.
Thank You Dr. Vierra!!

1st impression: Caring, knowledgeable, dedicated, non-judgmental, informative, and happy to be helping obese people to a healthier life.

I haven't changed my impression and I haven't found anything at all that I dislike except maybe... he should slow down a bit.

The office staff are wonderful and patient. A fun bunch to work with. Dr. Vierra puts a lot of stress on the aftercare and has an extensive program.

He addressed the risks of surgery in both his pre-appointment seminar and at the 1st office visit and again at the pre-surgery office visit. He even asked my husband how he felt about it and answered his questions.

He gets a 9 out of 10. I felt he was very thorough in everything, but, I would have preferred him to be just a little less clinical at discharge (more human). I think that it is very important to have surgical competence but both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great.

I would recommend him to everyone!

This is just my personal impressions of my own personal experience and I am making no statements about what other people may experience.

My first impression of Dr. Vierra was during his informational lecture, that all of his patients are required to attend before even scheduling a consultation, was that he has a sense of humor. He opened with a pretty good running joke which he incorporated into his lecture with ease. It was meant to level the brevity in the room and it did. He was open, informative, knowledgeable and willing to answer any and all questions we had. He was very upfront about all aspects of this surgery, both good and bad. I did a lot of research before choosing him and ultimately it was his experience in this field that made the choice seem rather easy. When I went for my consultation, he was still the same as he was in the lecture, open - warm - concerned - knowledgeable. His assistant, Nikki, is wonderful! We just finished my pre-op visit yesterday and his aftercare plan is amazing. I'll have his personal number to call if I run into a problem or a concern at 3 am, if needed. He emphasizes and outlines our exact instructions and he expects them to be followed to the T. He is committed to his patients and expects his patients to be committed to themselves as well. So far, I haven't had a bad experience at all. We'll see how things after surgery and update after that!

Dr. Mark VierrarnAt first I thought he was a bit 'stuffy' but have since learned he is a remarkable doctor with a dry humor.rnHe is dedicated to his calling and his patients. He is very knowledgeable, having established the Bariatric Surgery Program at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA.rnDr. Vierra has a very efficent office staff who are quite friendly and very helpful. My favorite is Nikki. It is a well run office with people who are truely concerned about their patients.rnThe after care program is as good as YOU allow it to be. The information and care is there but it is up to the patient to follow the program and do their part.rnThe risks of surgery were explained at every office visit and in the pre-op classes Dr. Vierra holds.rnI rate Dr.Vierra as the best. He is excellent at what he does but probably would not be my choice as a 'family doctor'. He is a bit 'stuffy' to be a go to all the time doctor.rnAs far as surgical competence and bedside manor??? Both are great but if I had to choose - SURGICAL COMPETENCE...

Dr Vierra is committed about helping with weight loss and management after surgery. He is informative and professional. He uses some humor and makes you feel at ease. Process to surgery( about 5 months) was smooth. Office staff helpful and understanding. Emphasives aftercare and the importantance of taking your supplements after surgery. Has structured aftercare with monthly support meetings. Did not down play the risks of surgery including the possibility of death. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. I feel he is very competent and I like his bedside manner.

I thought he was the cuttiest Dr. I've ever seen, all 5'6\" ,140 lbs of him.rnI felt very confident when I read his of experience & background history.rnOffice staff was very friendly, helpful & respectful.rnThere was nothing I didn't like about him.rnHe is very serious about your success and he is very caring and concerned about his patients.rnHe insists you come back for frequent post op visits to make sure everything is going good and to celebrate your success with you.rnYes he does have a structured after care program in the form of post op support group meetings and he helps you to structure your after care according to your needs.rnHe addressed them realistically but also emphasized the benefits. rnI think he is the best surgeon in the whole wide world.rnBoth are GREAT!rn

My very first impression of Dr. Vierra was that he is a very realistic doctor. He wants you to follow his instruction and only expects the best after you doing so. My second impression took place during my first appointment and it was then that I realized what an awesome physician he really is! He really cares about his patients and wants the best for them and he gives credit for applied effort. The office staff was wonderful. At the time I went in, they were swamped with patients, it was quite obvious, but they didn't let it show in their approach to customer service.
