I met Dr. Zapata when I had a lap band at a Seattle Bash Conference. I immediately liked him. He is very soft spoken and kind. After he did my revision surgery, I came to like him even more. He is very competent, very attentive, listened and addressed all my concerns, worked with me through my rough recovery period, answered all my calls (even to his cell) He also corresponded to me via email, continuing to give me advice and guidance when I asked even after I came back home. I always felt completely safe and assured around him. He and his staff attended to my every need. I would go back to him without question. I feel that he offers a lot for those who are looking for a surgeon who really listens, has a great bedside manner and a genuine concern for his patients.

I had been overweight my entire life. Within the last year my condition and co-morbidities have threatened my career. On my last job my boss told me about Dr. Zapata, who had banded his daughter earlier in the year. I was to be banded with my boss the same day but holiday travel made it impossible for him to make the trip. I chose to take this journey myself and decided vertical sleeve gastrectomy was the better choice for me.rn I was impressed with every aspect of ready4achange. I literally went from airport to operating room. I remember thinking to myself on the ride to the hospital what a huge mistake I made. My driver guided me through admissions and from there it wasn't until I spoke with Dr. Zapata I felt at ease.rn The hospital and staff all spoke English. My care was second to none. Chief Operating officer of the hospital even sat with me for about fifteen minutes. He's from Pittsburgh, I'm from Buffalo, so that put me at ease as well. Assured me I was in an American owned hospital and my care was their utmost concern.rn I can't say enough about Dr. Zapata and his entire support staff. Your care doesn't end when you leave. Any problem or question is just a phone call away.

the kind of guy you'd like to take fishing with you............those are the best! i'm trying to think of anything i'd change or try to do better but i can't. his operation is like a well oiled machine from the moment i was picked up at the airport until the time they took me back for my flight home. i own my own businesses in dallas-ft-worth so i know how complicated it can be to cordinate every person, employee and thing but his team in my case was flawless drivers too. ok i know his intern from spain, didn't get to see her as much as i would have liked but i don't think any still breathing heterosexual male would have either. lol at me that's the only thing i can think of. yes i'm a dog and yes my wife knows it too.

I found Dr. Zapata to be a soft spoken and caring doctor. He and his staff took great care of me, and his skill as a bariatric surgeon blew me away. Many surgeons in the United States shied away from my case due to the fact that I had had a gastric banding that did not only fail but made me very sick until I had it removed. Dr. Zapata took great care to make sure that my stomach and heart (among other things) were in good health before agreeing to the surgery. It was questionable that he would be able to do the surgery laproscopically due to a previous hernia surgery and the suspected number of adhesions in my abdomen. The surgery took longer than usual, but was completely successful. I went to Mexico to have the surgery done because in the US most did not want to attempt the surgery on me and I would never have been able to afford it here due to my lack of insurance. I feel completely confident that I made the right decision. Before my pre-op diet I weighed 425 lbs. Today I weigh 348 lbs. That weight loss took place in just slightly less than 3 months. I never felt frightened or uncomfortable in any way while in Mexico for the surgery. The only thing I will change before I go back for skin removal surgery is that I will brush up on my spanish.

Dr. Zapata is a very nice, soft-spoken, and gentle man. He does his best to try and make sure you are comfortable and answer each and every question you have. He will go out of his way to make sure you are happy and confident in his work. His staff are very attentive and all speak english. The only staff I encountered that spoke spanish were the nurses at the actual hospital but you can call his staff to help translate or they give you a paper with common medical questions you may be asked and how to ask certain questions in spanish. There was nothing I didn't like about my experience with Dr. Zapata or his staff. Overall I would rate him a 10/10. He went out of his way for me and I know would do it for any patient. His surgical competence and bedside manner are excellent.

When I first met Dr. Zapata in his office he welcomed me with a handshake and a smile. He is very warm, approachable, kind, soft spoken and spoke very good english. He answered all my questions about the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) and more, even though there were other patients waiting in the waiting room. I felt so at ease with this doctor. I felt comfortable about going into surgery with Dr. Zapata and his team, in spite of my fears. His anestiologist, who also spoke good english, came to me before surgery and explained what was going to happen step by step. All of the hospital staff were very kind and attentive. A week later I am back at work and have no complications. I had questions about after-care and Dr. Zapata answered them in an email immediately. I would rate this doctor very high. I have no regrets about going to Mexico and having this surgery with Dr. Zapata.

Fantastic surgeon. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients. I had to call him to ask him something about my diabetes medicine a week after the surgery, and he answered his own phone! I got plenty of education about my procedure and how to proceed with my post op diet. The staff was great and very professional. I can't recommend him highly enough! It was a wonderful experience.
