My first appointment was towards the end of November and I just had my surgery yesterday (January 6th, as a same day procedure). The staff at NJ Bariatric Institute went out of their way to make sure I was approved by my insurance very quickly, the whole process was NOT a huge headache like I was expecting it to be!! Dr. Bertha is a great doctor, probably one of my favorites, he's very laid back and down to earth. He's a very to-the-point, no BS doctor which is what us fat patients need! I would strongly recommend visiting him if you're interested in WLS!

My initiation to surgery from informational seminar to one on one consult to surgery was quick and easy...less than 2 two months.
He was encouraging and honest.
I had my surgery November 5, 2013 (during Superstorm Sandy) and they were very compassionate. It was a very quick procedure...I had the Gastric Sleeve.
As of September 5th, I am only 21have lbs from my goal!!!
I've lost 91it lbs!!!! From 242 to 151....

I had a VSG on July 9, 2013 by Dr Nicholas Bertha from Morristown, NJ. II am 63 , almost 64 years old. I did not want to live the rest of my life heavy. My starting weight was 212 and my height 5'2". I opted to have the procedure at a local surgery center. I was in and out the same day. I was given a scopalamine patch for nausea preop since sleeve surgeries seem to have a higher rate of nausea.

Dr Bertha recommended a Trans -abdominal block prior to surgery. It was done by the anesthesiologist. It was a little painful but not unbearable. My surgery went well and I went home by 4:30 in the afternoon. I slept all evening woke up at 11 , had some fluids and went back to sleep.

The next day I was pain free. I took Tylenol once and that was it. I never had the gas pains . Yeah- burp- yes. I could not believe how good I felt. I was expecting pain or something. Thank you, Dr Bertha!

Dr Bertha did my single incision Lap Band in 2010 (HE DID A GREAT JOB THERE IS NOT A SCAR AT ALL). I chose Dr.Bertha to do my surgery becasue of how detail he was in explaining the surgery.

I went to a seminar about bariatric surgery and fell in love with Dr. Bertha. He was so easy to talk to and very kind. I immediately made a consultation appointment.

My first appointment was scary for me, but Dr. Bertha made me comfortable and at ease right away. He was informative and compassionate. He answered all of my questions and did not rush my appointment at all.

I had the lapband put in in August of 2009. Scary again, I even tried backing out while being brought into the OR. Dr. Bertha was patient with me and calmed me down. I am so grateful for making the right decision.

I have friends that have had bariatric surgery and they have all changed doctors. Dr. Bertha is the best!

I first met Dr Bertha in mid 2003 and had gastric bypass with him in Jan 2004. He is the kindest most caring Dr I have ever met. I did well with the surgery and lost over 150lbs. due to some unfortunate circustances and illnesses I gained some of the weight back over the past few years and just two weeks ago on May 1. 2012 I had the Band over bypass or "BOB" done. I feel wonderful it was such a simple procedure. again Dr Bertha and his staff is so kind and caring. I had my two week checkup lost 9 lbs already and feel fantastic. so much energy and no issues at all. He is wonderful as well as his staff and I highly reccomend them to anyone.

Dr Bertha and all his staff are so understanding and they help you through the whole process and explain everything to you.

I just want Dr Bertha to know how much I appreciate his practice. I shopped around before making my decision to go forward and i am so blessed to have made the right choice! Thank You Dr. Bertha and his whole Staff!

This was such a big decision, but it is also SO OVERWHELMING. The Insurance DOES NOT Make it easy, but Dr Bertha and his Insurance Specialist, were there to help me understand and guide me.

Now I've had my surgery and I'm on the receiving end... Losing weight and getting my Life BACK! Thank You Dr. Bertha!
