My first impression of Dr. T was good I went for the seminar at University Hospital and he discribed the procedure in detail and also shared what to expect. I felt comfortable right from that first meeting. Today August 2, 2005 i went for the consultation office visit and he was the same, he first asked me if I knew why I was there and what it was about. He explained the different steps in getting this done. Expalined that I need to get some things done with my primary doctor.

What I did like is that he knew my Primary doctor and also my Gastro. Doctor. I have more issues with gastro. than with any other doctor so made me feel more at ease.

Overall I was please with Dr. T.

I FOUND THAT DR. TOMASELLO WAS A KIND MAN WHO WAS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE AND I HAVE ONLY HEARD GREAT THINGS ABOUT HIM. HIS STAFF IS VERY NICE.
HE ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION I HAD AND MORE. I FEEL VERY GOOD THAT I CHOSE HIM TO DO THIS SURGERY. I HAVE NOT HAD THE SURGERY YET BUT I WILL UPDATE ON HOW EVERYTHING ELSE WENT LATER.

I read about the great care provided by Dr. Tomasello and the staff at University Hospital on a bariatric message board. He was highly recommended by the people who posted. I first met Dr. Tomasello when I attended one of his seminars. He was polite, described the procedure and answered questions thoroughly. Using a slide projector, the Dr. spoke about the procedure, risks and possible complications of the surgery. During my office visit we discussed reasons for the surgery and eating habits. He was up front and to the point. I need a good surgeon, not a friend. His Office assisant Sondra, who also had a gastric bypass, is very nice. She was very helpful in directing me in what I needed for my insurance to approve the surgery.
They encourage their patients theirs or any post surgical support group.

What I don't like:

Sondra only works part time and doesn't return phone calls right away which can be very nerve-wracking when you need to get or give info to them.

The print outs they send with instructions are bad copies and unprofessional.

I was really impressed with Dr. Tomasello and his program. The office staff was wonmderful, especially the young lady whe assisted me with my insurance. His aftercare program is well organized with the hospital where he does his surgeries.

Dr. T was awesome. I was a bit nervous, since i did not know anyone who had been through the process w\ him, but i had heard good things from other dr's. His information session was a bit bland when you compare with marema from holy cross, but the proof is in the aftermath. the nurses were wonderful at university, and the private room really made it easy. the nurses even sent me away w\ a get well/congratz present (little plate, bowl, spoon, fork, and knife) super cute!!! i haven't heard any hospital doing that for their patient. It's sometimes hard to get in touch w\ him, but that's what sandra (his office manager is for) (a little rough, but she does it w\ love)oh btw she got me approved within 24 hrs of sending in my paperwork...she made sure everything was done properly so i didn't have to wait...everything is specialized and mandatory from meetings w\ the nutritionist, to check-ups...he was the easiest office to deal w\ and i would recommend him to anyone thinking of the surgery...

Dr. Tomasello is a straight forward surgeon who seems to really know the WLS world. He is extremely knowledgable and LOVES to share his insights with you. He tells you like it is and that is a GREAT thing! His office staff is amazing and so efficient!
I will meet with him again the day of my surgery and look forward to all the support both he and his staff will bring.

11/24: Just thought I'd share with you how my hospital experience was with Dr. Tomasello. He didn't see me/talk to me before the surgery although his team did explain everything to me while in the OR. The first time I saw him was day 2 recovery. He came in asked a few questions and left. Busy guy...On day 3 he sat and talked to me for awhile. My mom was there and asked a TON of questions so he was indulging her I guess. On day 4 (my release day) he came in and asked me to rate the expeience. I voted it was WORSE than I expected. He didn't seem to happy with my response. He told me best wishes and he'll see me in 2 weeks! He is a great surgeon and feel so blessed that I was able to have such a talented and dedicated surgeon perform my operation. I felt very confident in his abilities especially now that it doesn't even feel like I had surgery!

I really felt comfortable with Dr Tomasello. He is very straight forward and you can see he is a very thoughtful person. The staff at his office is very nice, though they should be more HIPAA compliant. Sandra gets things done--she is an amazing woman--Her case load has to be overwhelming and I can truly say --She has everything together!! I look forward to my visits with her!!

Dr. Tomasello was very professional. He made my mom and I feel very comfortable and answered all of our questions in depth. He took his time and made sure we were happy when we left the office. The office staff dealt with my insurance in a timely manner. They were wonderful. My mom had surgery in July 2003 and I am scheduled for surgery on Feb 23, 2004.
