My first impression of Dr. Quilici was that he was very professional and that he knew what he was doing. I researched information on him before I made an appointment so I knew he was one of the best in the area. At the time of the surgery I felt a little like I was in line because he does so many gastric surgeries, but now that I'm nearing 5 years I have developed a personal relationship with him and think he is a very sweet man. I have also developed a relationship with the office staff which really helps since there is a wait most times. The waiting is what I like least, but I feel I would rather wait for the best than get in right away for a terrible surgeon. For aftercare he maintains blood work to make sure my vitamin levels are good. He is also taking care of some issues I'm having with some stomach pain. Dr. Quillici is definately rated tops in my book! His surgical competence and bedside manner are superb! He will be performing another surgery on me called lap assisted ERCP in the next month.

My first impression was that he was a very busy man and this is very much a business for him. He is an excellent doctor with excellent references. All the staff seemed fine, nothing super special. I am not fond of Julie the Nutritionist. She seems new and very focused on the 'script' vs listening to the patient.
I neglected to ask about bougie size which is all the talk on OH web site and after surgery I asked for copy of my OR report and found I was given a size 60. This is TWICE what everyone else seems to have so my next meeting with Doc Q is to find out why. It is done so nothing can be done now, but I'm very surprised. At least one other patient has gotten information contrary to what was provided to me. Curious but would not have made me change my mind about the surgery type or doctor.
To me, his surgical experience and competence is much more important than he bedside manner (of which he has little to none). I had a perfect surgery, perfect recovery, no pain, no problems and I've very happy with the outcome so far.

I only met him once and he seemed nice enough, i want the sleeve done and he just kinda smiled at me and said oh you'll change your mind eventually??? i think because he knew they would deny me, he is a big fan of the bypass, he doesn't know me though, he probably didn't think i would fight so hard, but its my body and i don't want the intestinal bypass and the band has so many problems, his office staff is very nice, i really liked the nutritionist, and Liz who sends the requests has been very sweet..... so we'll have to see if i win my appeal. if i have to i guess i would do the bypass but i really don't want to and if some companies, like Kaiser, which is the biggest HMO in california are approving it then i think i should be able to get it. We will have to wait and see the jury is still out..

My first impression of him was that he very professional and busy. No my impression of him did not change. His office staff is great and very knowledgeable. Very competent office staff and very approachable. They offer answers when you have questions. I have nothing negative to say about him. Future patients should know that he does not spend much time with a patient unless you require such time. He emphasizes aftercare frequently. Requires monthly checkups after surgery and testing. Yes he does have a structured aftercare program. He gives us the tools it is our choice to work through it. We were educated thoroughly regarding risk and complications. I recommend him and his associates at his practice. I believe that surgical competence is better. I trusted him with my life.
