Randall Cook M.DrnrnI knew Dr Cook Thru other friends and family that had used him and for this reason I knew I could trust him, I also did further research on Dr Cook and was very impressed. Dr Cook made a statement the day I went for my first consultationwhich was, I have been doing surgery for 25 yrs but I can honestly say since I started doing this surgery it has been the most rewarding of my career. It makes me feel good to know that i'm doing what I can to help people have a normal healthy life.rnrnComplications; Yes I knew going in that this surgery had some risks as with any surgery, Dr Cook explained all the risks of this but he also told me he thought my obesity held more health risks than that of the surgery. I knew the first consult this was my chance for a healthier happier future and I knew I wanted Dr Cook to be the one to help me achieve this.rnrnBEDSIDE MANNERS: As for Dr Cook's bedside manner, In my opinion it was fantastic. He was one of the most caring, compassionate and understanding Dr's I have ever dealt with.rnrnOVERALL OPINION; Dr Cook and his staff were fantastic, They let you know from the beginning they are there to help you in any way they can. Whether it be questions, fears or whatever they are only a phone call away.rnrn ;o) ^j^Sue^j^rnrn

Dr. Cook is the greatest!! I am totally comfortable with him. When I first met him a total weigh was lifted off my shoulders.

'My first impression of him was that he was nice and seemed exceptionally qualified. He was attentive enough to come in and see me on Thanksgiving (the morning after my surgery--he was off that day). rn His office staff members were OK. They were really very helpful in scheduling the surgery

I love Dr. Cook. He and his staff are very friendly, understanding and above all very knowledgeable about the surgery and what to expect. Dr. Cook took as much time as I needed to explain the surgery and the risk to me. He is a very straight forward surgeon, he doesn't sugar coat anything. I like this in a Doctor. If you are looking for a surgeon who is going to tell you what you want to hear and not the truth don't go to Dr. Cook. He only tells it like he sees it. Dr. Cook's office has a support group that meets once a month that is helpful with aftercare. Overall Dr. Cook is a 10 in my book.

When I first met Dr Cook I thought he was very knowledgable about Gastric Bypass and he has proved time and time again I was right,My opinion of him has just gotten better over the last almost 2 yrs. I think Randall Cook is a wonderful and caring man and above all DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!His office staff is great,A very helpful and friendly bunch of girls,I can't say there was anything I didn't like about Dr Cook then or still today,,,One of the first things Dr Cook told me was he had been a surgeon almost 30 yrs and enjoyed his work but since he got into this field it has been the most rewarding,The feeling he gets when you lose the weight and feel like a different person is wonderful.Dr Cook also tells you he has the easy part,THE HARD PART IS DEFINITELY YOURS and the results definitely depends on you and how you use this tool.He does strongly emphasize how important the after care is for your health and keeping the weight off,He does have a good after care program and is continually working to make it better. He is up front with you the first time you meet him about the risks and dangers of this surgery,But he also stresses the risks and dangers of being OBESE.I think Dr Cook is a top of the line Surgeon and person in general.I think Dr Cook is great in every way and I would use him again tomorrow if the need arose!!!!

Dr. Cook Is a very soft spoken man but to the point.I like a Dr. that puts you first on his mind like he said this is a choice surgery. So he take it very serious about what he is going to be doing to your body for the rest of your life. With that in mind that is why I want to do my best and be a good patient and do as he says.
The girls in the office are just as great as Dr.Cook is.They have a great Dr. to work for to love what they do.Lisa and Missy work together as a team very well. They make you feel like you are so special.
Dr cook cares about the after care.He wants you to come see him often. He is great and his suport programs are very good.He comes there and takes time with us to answer our questions.I just think that is wonderfull.Like I said he told me that there is a risk and this is a choice I have made.
He is a caring Dr.and his staff is so real at making you feel good about your self.I am so ready for the 24th of Nov. to get here.

My first impression of Dr. Cook was a very good one. I could tell he was very caring and serious about his profession. My impression of him only got better with time. The two young ladies, Lisa and Missy that work for him are very nice as well as caring and professional. There was really nothing that I didnt like about Dr. Cook. Future patients should know that he is very professional but also has a good bedside manner. He is very emphatic about aftercare. Regular shceduled office visits for the first year as well as the B12 shots he wants his patients to heve every three months. There is also a care group that meets regularly at the hospital that they reccommend. He doesnt hesitate to tell all the risks of this surgery as well as the benefits. It is great to have a doctor who has both bedside manner and surgical competence, but the competence absolutely takes priority!

My first impression of Dr. Cook was that he was very knowledgable about weight-loss surgery. He throughly discussed the pros and cons and all of the possible risks associated with the surgery. His office staff has been very helpful and eager to answer all my questions. To anyone in the Montgomery area that is thinking of WLS, I highly recommend Dr. Cook. He thoroughly went over what was expected after the surgery for me to have success. Not only is he a great surgeon, but his bedside manner is greater than any doctor I have had. He first sat with me in the office and answered every question I had and the day after the surgery, he still sat with me awhile and answered all my questions and lessoned my fears.
These are my experiences and no one elses.

I have not had surgery yet, but am confident it will happen soon. Dr. Cook was personable and caring. He took great care in explaining the surgery options and the surgery itself.

I liked his honest and sincere approach. He laid it all out to me, the risks, the pain, the hospital stay, and of course my responsibilities.

He strongly emphasizes after care and has the support tools in place to provide that care whether the care is medical or emotional.

Dr. Cook seems a fine surgeon. I think I'll reserve an overall rating until after he's done cutting on me (hehe).

Well, he's done cutting on me, and I was right he is a fine surgeon(7-14-04). I did have a couple of external bleeders that were troublesome that kept me in the hospital a few extra days. I felt very little pain, except in my left shoulder after the surgery.
I had lap rny. I got out today(7-19-04)and already have noticed a general improvement to my overall health.

My first impression was great, he did not fool around. He was very straight and to the point. He laid out the riskd and the benifits ande I was very pleased. He emphasized after care and that this tool will work with my dedication. His staff was also fantastic. Waiting on BCBS and surgery date, I want this to happen soon. My life is in a holding pattern and this will jump start it again. I would rate Dr. Cook a 10plus. I feel lucky since I was considering some doctors in Birmiongham. I have heard from many that he is the best. Things happen for a reason and I'm glad he will be taking care of me. God bless Dr. Cook.
