Dr. Follwell is fabulous. He explains things very clearly and in a no nonsense fashion which I appreciate. He is compassionate but strict at the same time. He truely wants you to do well and that requires following the rules. His staff is very helpful. They always call you back in a timely manner (which is more than I can say for a lot of doctors offices). The one thing I don't like about his office is that you know your appointment date early but aren't given the time until a few days before so you must be flexible. That can be challenging to a busy schedule. Overall, I would highly recommend Dr. Follwell to anyone considering having weight loss surgery.

So far Dr.Follwell is a really nice guy and very competent surgeon. My surgery date was the 29th and he has a great bedside manner and calm, caring manner about him.
He (and his staff) are VERY good about explaining everything as they are a center of Bariatric Excellence ans so are professional, cautious and very caring.
He will not "sugar coat" anything and is completely honest with you. If you want someone capable and trustworthy Dr.Follwell does wonderful surgery.

I picked Dr. Follwell for one he was the speaker at the Seminar that I attended in St. Louis, MO. An he wasn't bad on the eyes either.

I wish I would of known earlier that he performs the surgeries at 2 hospitals instead of the one in the City. If I would of known that I would of immediately switched it to the Des Peres hospital in St. Louis.

I haven't had a good experience with the staff. Either they don't know what they are doing, or they have said it so much that even if your new to them the performance is old. I had no advocate. I just feel that if they are going to spend money on radio commercials that they should spend more money on their customer service. Everyone either on the phone or in person needs to be greeted with a smile.

My first impression on my Dr was that he was so tall and handsome. The office staff nor is the Doctor vary friendly not mean either. They move vary quick there are a lot of patience in out. The doctor and staff really know what there doing. My new self in St.Louis the #1 most important thing is that it's a life long relationship with the doctors and staff you can call and ask many questions as you want. They just don't do your surgery and never see them again. I would give them on a scale of 1 to 10 a 10.rnrnBut the hospital they use Des pres hospital i would not let a rat be seen there.

I cannot say anything negative about Dr. Follwell or his staff. When I first met him at the seminar, he was very thorough, took the time to answer everyone's questions and did'nt sugar coat anything. Thank u Dr. Follwell for giving me my life back.

My first impression of Dr. Follwell was I felt comfortable with him, I have worked in surgery so I knew some detailed questions to ask him and he gave the right answers. He tells you like it is, and expects you to be 100% into this lifestyle change. The dietician is wonderful, and the aftercare from Dr. Follwell has been absolutely GREAT!! His bedside manner and surgical skills are wonderful. Dr. Follwell's office staff are great. Should you want to call them the office number is 314/577/5778. If you use newstart, please have all your paperwork in order to give to them, I found that is mainly the patient's responsibility.

I am an RN for many years, but my first impression of Dr. Follwell; I was intimidated! I have never been intimidated by a physician before. Maybe it was his 6'4\" height and bald head, I don't know. I've come to know him and find him very kind and compassionate. His office staff are very friendly. The biggest thing with Dr. Follwell is he wants you to follow the directions so you will do well. Not such high expectations right? Well it is hard to follow the directions, though I have, but he means it. If you follow his directions you will do well. His aftercare program is excellent. He addressed the risks of surgery well, probably more than I wanted to hear at the time! His bedside manner is marvelous and his surgical competence (I was an OR scrub nurse) are flawless. I am 10 post op and doing great, because I have followed his 'rules' that are hard sometimes but the end result will be worth it. I'm already down 16.2 pounds!!

My first impression of Dr. Follwell was very reasuring. I felt like he had his patients best interest at heart. At my consulation he was very friendly and I felt like he had the time if I had the questions. The office staff were very professional and all business. Dr. Follwell emphasizes go by the book and you will do good. he also told me about some of the risks involved with surgery but again there is risks with everyday life. I would have him again for surgery I felt he was a great surgeon. My daughter who is a nurse, so she is very picky said she would have him do hers if she can get some insurance that will pay. I feel his surgical competence and bedside manner was both great!

rnI was totally impressed with Dr. Follwell's consultation and appointment. He talked with me and definetly took his time with me, letting me ask all the questions that I had. I have such a great feeling about him doing my surgery. The office staff is wonderful. They were so busy the day that I was in, but they took their time with each and every one of us. I would rate Dr. Follwell a 10 for now. I will keep you posted. My surgery is set for March 18th, 2008.
