Doc Mikkleson is a very kind man. His staff also are very personable. At my initial consult today, he took the time to find out what I knew about the road to health and about the surgery itself. He seemed to have a respect for me as a person that even some health care professional lack. Although this man has been performing these surgeries for a little more than a year, he has been a surgeon in our town for longer than I have lived here. Seems to me that Doc Mikkleson likes to know his patients are well informed. We went over a booklet about the surgery to make sure I did not miss anything. As stated in my profile, this is exactly what I was looking for. I am not one of a ton of people at a seminar. I am an individual who needs some help on my road to a healthy life.

My first Impression of Dr. Mikkelson was very good. He was very friendly and informitive of the procedure and risks and was very concerned and carring about my questions and concerns. He was also very nice to my wife in answering her questions as well he was very happy that she was there to ask questions too. He told me that I would be seeing alot of him over the next 2 years it's only been 4 weeks since my surgery and seen him 4 times my impression only gets better every time I see him He is truly a very nice man. His staff is very good too they always help me with questions and conserns very nice people. There is nothing that I don't like about him. Future patients can expect a very professional, out standing, carring and very friendly doctor. I have been to ALOT of doctors and I think that Dr Mikkelson is the BEST! He is very concerned with the after care. and that you follow "ALL" of his instructions. Because he wants to make sure his patients get the best care and best follow up. and he loves to see the results in his patients. Surgical competence and bed side manner were both out standing. I would definitaly recomend DR. Mikkelson to evry one interested in this procedure. I look foward to seeing him for my follow ups because he's so nice to talk to no matter how stupid the question might be he will give you a very professional and honest answer. I like to think of him as a friend and a very good one because he has helped change my life for good. If you are thinking of Gastric By-pass surgery I definitly recomend that you consult with Dr. Mikkelson. I was the FIRST Patient at St. Agnes Hospital to have this proceedure done there and the nurses didn't know how to treat me or how my diet was set up. I had to explain my proceedure to them and tell them what I could and couldn't eat. so the hospital had to go out and buy the right liquids that i was supose to be getting according to my dietician so my stay in the Hospital was kind of nerve racking at times but now the hospital staff has gone through special meetings and training on how to deal with these patients. I still give the nurse staff credit they did the best they could for there first Gastri by-pass patient. and I would still recomend St. Agnes hospital to have the surgery done. Dr Mikkelson has been doing this surgery for a long time and has done hundreds of them, he also perfoms this proceedure at other hospitals too.
