I had laproscopic gastric bypass surgery in July 2003 at the age of 21, so it's been quite awhile for me to go back and remember my initial impressions. To summarize: Dr. Rorhscheib is a very competent surgeon and an expert in his field. His staff is excellent! The nurses, clerical team, and nutritionist are some of the best I've been in contact with, and I've been to a lot of doctor's offices. Dr. Rohhrscheib was sure to explain the risks of the surgery and what to expect afterwards. The followups are crutial because it's not, as many say \"the easy way out,\" by having a weight-loss surgery. rnrnA note to future patients:Having this surgery changes you. It is important to take in all of the information given to you by Dr. Rohrscheib and his staff. They know what they are talking about because this is ALL they do. An excellent Dr. and team! I saw 3 other doctors and CHOSE Dr. Rohrscheib because he was the best.

I can't speak highly enough about Dr. Rohrscheib! During my initial visit (5-24-07)Dr. R sat down and discussed all the ups and downs to the surgery and did not seem rushed- As we all know that most doctors do seem rushed :) The big bonus-Because my surgery was not going to be paid by my insurance, I was able to have a surgery date scheduled before I even left the office! Dr. R can perform surgery in both Carle Hospital (Champaign, IL) and Dr. John Warner Hospital (Clinton, IL) I decided to have the procedure done at Dr. John Warner because I was able to have it done in only a few weeks (6-15-07) As far as the actual operation, the hospital is small-but the staff is AWESOME......they were able to pay close attention to my condition since there were not as many patients. The whole experience has been exvellent....I am three weeks out and still kickin!

I really like Dr. Rohrscheib. He was very thurough, and treated me like a real patient. He was very positive, and seemed like he knew that this surgery would help to solve my probelms with weight. After surgery he went straight out to my family members waiting and told them everything that had progressed. They were very impressed with him also.

I met with Dr. Rohrscheib, Back in Oct of 2006 i thought he was very right to the point and knew what he was doing. I was very pleased with him. It took me two years of research before i made up my mind to have surgery done. I'm very glad that my g/f had told me about Dr. Rohrscheib. He seems to care alot about his patientsrn

Dr. Rohrscheib seems to be very professional. He was patient in answering all of our questions. He does come off as seeming to be a little distant, but I think that is his way of not becoming personally involved.

I am scheduled for lapband surgery to take place at Carle Hospital in Champaignm Illinois on march 17th.
I have only had one meeting with Dr. R. at this time, however, I was extremely impressed with him. He seemed very knowledgable. I am confident that he will do a dreat job on me. His office and professional staff is second to none.
I feel good about this decision.

After months of looking around at my options and playing the mind games, I've decided to have the LapBand surgery and chose Dr. Sidney Rohrscheib. I had attended one of his seminars months ago and my initial impression with him was fairly consistent with what many post, bright, knowledgable, but maybe a bit lacking in the one to one touchy-feely skills.

Following my final consult with him today and meeting on a one-one basis I don't know that I agree fully. He's knowledgable, and very very busy which may come off to some as lacking in bedside manners but for me, we'd get along just fine!

He has a well run, well staffed, office that only has the patient as their interest. His whole program is run in one location so it's very easy to deal with, that's important to me.

I first met Dr. R at one of his informational seminars. He is very good at explaining the options, proceedures, risks and making sure you know this is a lifetime commitment. The only thing I noticed is that he is very quiet on a personal level (I'm used to my family doctor that jokes around with us).

He seems very knowledgable and is very courtious. I have only met him once, but he did surgeries for 2 of my sisters. They really like him. His staff is very comforting and understanding. They have tried to be very helpful. His staff is so caring. Each time I talk to one of them, they seem to know exactly who I am, what my concerns have been, what kind of care I am needing at the time, and they are so sensitive through it all. I've gotten frustrated a couple of times and have unfortunately taken it out on them and they understand and try to do whatever they can to help and comfort me. Dr. Rohrscheib treats me like I am on the same level as him, like I am capable of understanding just as much information as he does. He talks to me, not at me. I have spoken on the phone with him a couple of times. He made arrangements with another doctor for me because of some complications that I was having that might have affected whether I could have the gastric bypass or not. He was completely involved in my care with this doctor and he showed me great respect. I look forward to having him perform my surgery. If you are considering having this surgery, you should keep your options open and do what is best for you, but Dr. Rohrscheib gets my vote!

Update: I had surgery on 10/4/05. I was disappointed with Dr. Rohrscheib's bedside manner. I saw him each day of my hospital stay. When my husband was there, he wasn't very friendly to him. On Thursday morning he didn't seem very interested in what I had to say about the day or night before. I don't understand how he could go from the way he was in the office and the way he was in the hospital.

Dr. R was knowledgeable and thorough during the initial consult. He handed me a band and port to examine and went over expectations and complications. The office staff was also wonderful, with information in concise pamphlets and booklets that covered my questions and some I hadn't thought of yet.
