Had my gastric bypass on 10-2-14 . Prior to surgery I was 301 lbs , an insulin dependent diabetic, on blood pressure med, a statin , and had sleep apnea, was on a C-Pap machine. As of today 12-29-14, I am down 66 lbs , I am no longer on insulin or any diabetic drugs . My sugars are around 100 every morning now, I am no longer on blood pressure med, statin, or C-pap machine. I no longer have any leg pain, just enjoyed a beautiful walk with my wife in NYC. I can't thank Dr. Binenbaum and his staff enough for giving me my life back. Other than getting married and having a family, with the help of Dr. Binenbaum and staff, this was the best decision I have made. I highly recommend Dr. Binenbaum

First of all everyone was great, right down to all the secretaries. Wonderful nurses and of course my hero Dr Binenbaum.
For the first time in my life, I feel in control of FOOD, yay !
I had the sleeve 3 months ago and am down 40 lbs. I feel amazing , no more shortness of breath when I walk and do normal daily things.
I am so grateful to the doctor for doing my surgery even though I am 69 years old, I feel and do have a new lease on life.
God bless you all for making my life full and allowing me to be able to look forward to every day with excitement

I felt Dr. Binenbaum and his staff were totally dedicated to my success in my journey of having bariatric surgery. I thought of it as a program. I am a researcher by nature and knew what I was going to be in for, before I even made the first call.

What I didn't know was how easy it was going to be to follow through from beginning to end.
The receptionist was very helpful and knowledgable. She told me I would have to attend one group meeting before my first consultation. My immediate response was AUGGGGGG. I have 3 jobs. Best thing I did. I met with a RN who was very informative. All the different options were explained and shown and a chance was given for questions. Dr. Binenbaum came in after and answered more questions. I had a surgery for severe reflux a couple of years ago and asked if I could have a sleeve.
I could see him thinking it through before he answered and he told me couple of options. He said send all my reports over to him.

My first consultation was great. No wait time. I saw a Sam and Dr. Goldberg, both friendly non judgmental and eager to get me started on a healthier new me. Dr. Binenbaum had read all my reports ( 20 pages) before I got there and he knew my case before we talked. He explained, my case would be a little difficult due to my reflux issues. I did more test and later the decision was to do a gastric bypass, a hiatal hernia repair and unwrap my esophagus from the prior surgery. I could see the look of concern on the difficulty of the procedure. I like the fact that he was focused and didn't seem to be taking this all for granted as just another surgery. I have read past reviews stating he is not the friendliest. I found him to be very nice but more focused on my case and my concerns. I prefer that over a extremely smiling doctor, shaking my hand and sending me on my way. We all met one or two of those. lol

I had surgery 1/ 29/ 12, one week ago. My recovery was great. Got up the next morning, out in 2 days. I had pain from gas mostly in my shoulder. I feel great. I had my post-op consultation today and was told I was doing fine. Dr. Binenbaum told me to call him for any questions what so ever.

I know this review is long but I wanted to explain, he and his staff made this whole process very easy. They are there for you in every capacity in making this a success. I believe it is "the Dr and the team that make surgery a success".

I am looking forward to continued weight loss and know they will follow through with me. I can't thank them enough.

I can't say enough about Dr. Binenbaum and the entire team at the baritric department at Monmouth Medical. I've lost 85 pounds so far and my wife has lost over 40 just by changing the way we eat. I had my surgery ( Gastric Sleeve ) July 10 2012 and was off insulin the day I left the hospital. I have to say the surgery changed my life. My energy is thru the roof. My Sleep Apnea is gone and now my wife can sleep because I don't keep her awake with my loud snoring. I highly recommend Dr. Binenbaum and the whole bariatric team he works with.

The BEST. Top shelve all the way. From my first call to the office. Dr. Binenbaum is confident, concerned, and qualified. So is his entire team.
Had the full gastro bypass. I and we all felt it wuld be the most effective means to end my out of control diabetes. Dr Binenbaum was concerned of the lenght of time I have been a diabetic. The surgery may not end my problem completely.
However, 4 days following surgery I was off all diabete and high blood pressure medication. I was free. I was at the max for metformin and glipizide plus Lantus insulin. NO MORE. And the additional bonus is I feel Super. Not dragging myself through the day. Thanks to Dr Binenbaum I am a new 55 year old women.
He care and skill is exemptional. "Dont put off till tomorrow what you can do today."

I saw Dr. Binenbaum several times after having my Lap Band surgery with a different doctor. Each time, I had to wait hours to be seen, to the point where I started taking an entire day off from work in order to get a fill. Before meeting him for the first time, I heard him make a snarky comment in the hallway before coming into my exam room, along the lines of not wanting to see me since I'd already had the surgery ( and he wouldn't make as much money since I'd only be seeing him for fills). I immediately told him that I'd heard his comments and I was no charity case. I had private insurance and he would be paid for seeing me. He also was rude when questioning me about my exercise and eating habits. I've met numerous bariatric professionals and this is the only one I had such a poor experience with.

I was scheduled to have gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. Binenbaum at Monmouth Medical Center. The week before my surgery Blue Cross Blue Shield told me that I hadn’t been authorized. I called Dr. Binenbaum’s office and was told this would be resolved quickly. Five days before surgery I went to my scheduled preoperative appointment and was told that surgery was being postponed because they didn’t have insurance authorization and didn’t know what needed to be done to get authorization.

I spoke with Dr Binenbaum and voiced my concerns about this office staff. The doctor explained that they are Monmouth Medical Center employees and he has no authority. He asked that I continue to work with the Program Director to resolve my insurance issues. I left messages, pages and voicemails for the Program Director but got no response. After three weeks I was fed up and went to a different surgeon. Two weeks later my new surgeon got insurance authorization and Dr. Binenbaum’s office asked me to come back to their office for surgery now that I was authorized. Dr.Binenbaum may be a good surgeon but I have lost confidence, time, money and patience with this office. I was treated horribly and cannot recommend that anyone rely on Monmouth Medical Center Bariatrics Program.
