I first met Dr. Wheeler on 6/25 in his office. I had heard him speak at the seminar the week before. Dr. Wheeler is very knowledgeable and straight forward, which I appreciate. He appeared to be very busy and rushed at this first appointment. I had my endoscopy the next day and he spoke with me before the procedure and was very pleasant and told me I was doing the right thing moving forward quickly with all my tests. He performed my gall bladder surgery on 7/22. He spoke with me and my family before the surgery and with my family following the surgery. He was again very pleasant and encouraging. He is an excellent surgeon. I saw Dr. Wheeler again on 10/15 to set a surgery date (11/14). He spent a good deal of time talking to both my husband and myself. We left feeling very at ease about the surgery and very comfortable with Dr. Wheeler.

I first met Dr. Wheeler at a seminar that was given. This was required before you could obtain an appointment. My first impression with him was that he was very knowledgeable and up to daye about the different types of surgery. He is a very straight forward person. No sugar coating anything. My first consult with him was wonderful. He explained all the risks of the surgery very well. It almost seemed as if he wanted to talk you out of it if you were not sure and did not understand things. He has a great program in place for after care. Even though this is a new program for the hospital... he is making great progress in getting everything set up. I came away from it with a new found hope. His office staff is wonderful. From the time I walked in until I checked out.... everyone was right on thier toes and eager to help you in any way that thye could. (Thanks girls for making me feel so comfortable and at ease) Before I left I was scheduled for most of the pre-op testing as well as having my nutritional counseling done and my Psych Eval scheduled. Dr. Wheeler also did my Endoscopy and Colonoscopy. He stopped in to see me before doing it and made me feel really comfortable. I did have some discomfort, but this was quickly relieved. Dr. Wheeler not only possesses a good bedside manner, but he seems to be a very competent surgeon. So all in all.... my first experience has been a good one. As this is my experience and views... if you decide to chose him... I hope yours goes as well.

I first meet Dr. Wheeler at a seminar, and I thought he was to the point, but not very talkative. I decided to go with the other doctor but realized that I could not get in with him because of my school schedule. I was scared to death of Dr. Wheeler because people said that he does not mess around and he is very dirct and to the point, just to see if you really want this or not. I changed my mind about Dr. Wheeler when I went to my first visit, he was very informative and very talkative, a super nice guy. I am glad that a chose Dr. Wheeler. I saw how well my Moms surgery went with him and how good he took care of her... I know that we made the right decision. I hope and pray that my surgery will go as well.

Dr. Wheeler is very direct and to the point and I like that. I wanted someone that I felt was being upfront with me. I have been really impressed with Dr. Wheeler and his staff, they have all been very caring and supportive as I have gone thru this process. They have been forth coming with information about the process and explored the options with me. But the most important issue for me is that they listen to me. They hear what I say and take the time to respond.

I feel very comfortable with Dr. Wheeler. I had been to two seminars before my consult and I was impressed with his honesty about the procedures and all that they entail. He seem to be very down to earth and seems to genuinely care about his patients and there success with WLS. Everyone in his office is great. They have a very good program. I get to have most of my testing in one day. The nurse submits my paperwork to insurance and they handle almost everything for you.

Dr. Wheeler is Great! His office staff is wonderful. I have had every question answered so far. If I every have a question, I have numbers of Nurses or office staff that will help me. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I haven't had surgery yet, but I see him on Wednesday,(9/7) to get my surgery date.
Dr. Wheeler is very personable.

Dr. Timothy Wheeler is a very though surgeon.
He'll leave no stone, unturned.
The staff is wonderful.
The aftercare program is the best I've seen and I've been researching for over 2 years now.

Dr. Wheeler has been very thorough in his pre op testing and information. I had to attend classes to learn about nutrition, what to expect after surgery and each stage of the diet process after surger.

His staff and the staff of King's Daughters Medical Center Weight Surgical Weightloss department has been very supportive and informative.

Dr. Wheeler is very up front and honest about what the risks are and what the potential complications could be. But he takes every precaution possible to prevent complications and to make sure his patients are well informed and prepared.

The aftercare program is very structured and taught in detail to each patient prior to surgery.

I have not had my surgery yet but it will be soon. I will update when the time comes.

I KNEW OF DR. WHEELER BEFORE EVEN CHOOSING TO HAVE GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY. I WORK AT A LOCAL HOSPITAL IN WV AND HE ALSO USED TO PRACTICE THERE. I KNEW WHAT A WONDERFUL REPUTATION HE HAD AS A VERY GOOD SURGEON. MY FIRST IMPRESSION WAS VERY GOOD, AND IT NEVER DID CHANGE THROUGHOUT MY VISITS TO THE OFFICE OR MY HOSPITAL STAY. IF ANYTHING, IT ONLY IMPROVED (IF THAT'S POSSIBLE). HE IS A TOP-NOTCH SURGEON AND MADE ME FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE. HE IS STRAIGHT FORWARD--I LIKE THAT. THIS WHOLE THING IS TOUGH! IF YOU CAN'T DO IT, DON'T EVEN BEGIN. HATS OFF TO DR WHEELER, DR TOMPKINS, AND THE ENTIRE STAFF INCLUDING DEANA AND ANNA. THEY ARE ALL TERRIFIC!
HE AND HIS ENTIRE STAFF REALLY DOES CARE ABOUT HIS PATIENTS AND TREATS US FITTINGLY. DR WHEELER EXPLAINED EVERY RISK AND ADVANTAGE TO A "T". BEDSIDE MANNER IS AWESOME. HE MADE MY PARENTS, HUSBAND AND FAMILY FEEL VERY ASSURED AND THAT WAS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. I WOULD AND HAVE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED DR WHEELER AND HIS STAFF, ALONG WITH DR TOMPKINS TO SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS.

He seems to be very nice and personalble, not some uppity type doctor that I've seen before.
office staff - wonderrful people, they seem really dedicated to their duties and don't judge by size.
Dr. Wheeler went into great detail about the gastric band surgery that i have chosen and I feel very comfortable with him about it. Overall, so far, I rate him a 9 onn a scale of 1-10.
UPDATE: Dr. Wheeler removed my gallbladder on 3/28/03. I only got to see him for about 2 minutes before surgery which was kinda bad, but I guess it was kinda hectic. Still, I think Dr. wheeler is a fine doctor and has a very competent staff. I think his surgical competence and his bedside manner are both wonderful.
UPDATE: I had my surgery on 4/18/03. Everything went wonderfully. Couldn't be happier. I spent 1 day in the hospital and was back to work on Monday.Dr. Wheeler is an excellent surgeon.
