Dr. Lamar was very professional and courteous. He was very clear about the surgery proper and its aftereffects, and was fairly patient, as doctors go, in answering my questions.

His office staff is also courteous, perhaps not particularly helpful if you have a specific and maybe arcane question.

The follow-up visits are few, for me at least, which means that it worked and I'm healthy.

All in all, I've had a very positive experience. I believe he is an excellent surgeon, and the other quibbles are just quibbles. Others may have a different experience, or different take on the same stuff.

Dr. LaMar is quite tall and handsome with a genuine smile. I never felt uncomfortable or uneasy w/him at all. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They really are concerned about you and are always ready to help and answer questions. Dr. LaMar and his staff are quite adament about gettin in that protein! They are quite thorough with all of the information. I thought that I knew a lot going in for my consultation, but they give you even more and wonderful information to take home. I have recommended all of my people to his office.

Wow is he ever tall!! He is very laid back, easy to talk to, supportive, gives tons of information in both verbal and written form about the diet afterwards, all the risk factors, plus's and minus's about this type of surgery. Has a good support group set up of office staff, dieticians who go over the diet with you before the surgery and have taste testers to try, bi-weekly support meetings held at Methodist Hospital for pre and post ops where everyone can share thier feelings- concerns- successes- learn about pouch care, etc. The hospital where he practices (Arcadia Methodist) has a floor where most all the post op GBS pts go, so the nurses are familiar with the needs of this type of patient.
On a scale of 1-10 I would rate Dr Lamar and his team at a level 8. He is good at both bedside manner and competency which is RARE for a surgeon!

When I first saw him, I thought he was standing on a podium. Boy, was I wrong. That man is very tall, well over 6 feet. I told my wife that I was glad he was tall, because his hands can reach around my BIG stomach. I thought Dr. LaMar was very friendly and enthusiastic. He introduced himself to me and shook my hand. So far I see him as the most personable.

I first heard of Dr LaMar from some of his patients. Everyone I met only had good things to say about him. The first time I saw him was at the symposium. He didn't speak much but seemed nice. When I had my consultation I had a chance to talk to him. He was very knowledgable and supportive. He let me know that he thought I was a good candidate and answered all of my questions. I can't say that there was anything I didn't like about him, (he was running late but I work in the medical field and know that emergencies come up and can't be helped.)
His office staff were also kind and helpful, Nicole the coordinator was great and she has a very hectic job! After care is important with this group, they encourage you to go to the support groups and continue with follow-up care. I was also encouraged to call te office day or night after surgery, if I had any questions or problems. Dr LaMar explained all the possible complications and also stressed that I may need an open procedure if there were a lot of adhesions (scarring) from my previous open gallbladder surgery. I would rate Dr. LaMar a 9 ( haven't met a 10 yet ;) ). For me, surgical competene is the most important thing but Dr LaMar had a good bedside manner too!

I met Dr. LaMar the night before my consultation at the symposium his office conducts. After the meeting he was available to answer questions.

I found Dr. LaMar to be quite pleasant and honest. The next day, at my consultation, he went over a few of the things discussed the previous night to make sure I understood everything and had no further questions.

His staff are wonderful and quite pleasant to deal with, helpful and non-judgemental.

He encourages his patients to call with any and all questions before and after the surgery. The nutrionist we were referred to is quite knowledgable and helpful.

The 5 phase program conservative compared to other programs, but is easy to follow and uncomplicated.

Dr. LaMar is extremely compentent and has a great bedside manner. I highly recommend him.

I meant him the first time at a seminar and was very impressed with him. He requires you go to his seminar before making an appointment. When I went to his office I liked everyone and they all seemed very helpful. The thing that surprised me most was the long delay after I saw the psychologist. It took over a month after I saw him to get a date for surgery. I guess I was being very unrealistic thinking it would move along so quickly. I was pleased that when I got my surgery date it was only about 6 weeks off. He does encourage you to go to the support groups before and after the surgery. Thankfully there is one not to far from my home. He told me about the risks, but said they were minimal but risks just the same. Overall at this point I am very pleased. My surgery is in 10 days ask me again after.

I have never met Dr. LaMar, but I was impressed by him at the seminar I attended at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Arcadia. The testimonies that were given by Dr. LaMars patient was more then enough for me. I want him to do my surgery along with Dr. Pherson.

I thougt he seemed cool. He feels genuine, and of course he's from scony (wisconsin),so that's cool. He gave me the basics of how the surgery will work etc. and was encouraging of my future and surgery. The staff is very nice and Nicole has been great. She really was helpful. She was a very fun person and I think we spent more time gabbing then discussing the surgery, but it was all relative. I'll let ya know more after surgery. I want to add that I think he did the most clean & perfect job on my insicions, they are so small & neat!

I felt some of the office workers are a little short w/people, as if we are wasting their time. But is that not there job, they need to SMILE :)!!
