Dr. Mehta was amongst the first who took advantage of a fellowship to become a trained Bariatric Surgeon experienced in both laparoscopic and open procedures. Since then he founded the Mehta Bariatric Center, dedicating 100% of its time and focus on treatment of obesity. He went on to develop a comprehensive bariatric program expanding far beyond the operative procedure.

The Mehta Bariatric Center offers continued support and guidance through the weight loss journey. This consists of monthly meetings, seminars, online support from peers, dieticians, Certified Personal Trainers with a focus on treatment of obesity, Individualized at-home training as well as group classes, affiliated Psychologists, Annual Summer Barbeques, Annual Holiday Parties, trips to theme parks, occasional weekend lunches…etc. This state of the art bariatric program is created in a very comfortable, family atmosphere which is evident to anyone who walks in through the doors. The extremely friendly office staff has undergone weight loss surgery themselves, and are extremely knowledgable and available to answer all your questions. They also work diligently to get your surgery authorized from the insurance carriers.

Dr Mehta has served as CHIEF OF BARIATRIC SURGERY at Saint Peter's University Hospital, is the DIRECTOR OF BARIATRIC SURGERY at Raritan Bay Medical Center, and also has attending priviges at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Somerset Medical Center. Thus far, he has been directly involved in training 7 other surgeons the technique of Laparoscopic RNY Gastric Bypass, and has the experience of ~900 weight reduction operations.
