Good Samaritain Hospital

My general thoughts about Good Samaritain is I've had issues with them in the past over billing. They are very quick to turn-over bills to collection even before the insurance has responded. My old P.C doctor was located on the campus, in which at times it was hard to get a message to him when I needed more medications. 3 week absentances and no fill-in doctor leaves the patient waiting for weeks. At times, the main office would not patch me through to speak to a nurse. After many attempts, I left my number which took another 2 weeks to return. I was given a referral to see a specailist, which it took the specailist 2 more weeks to call with an appointment. This comment is directed towards the Good Sam's clinic, and not the weightloss center.

The rooms were new, private, & very nice. The staff was wonderful.

I would highly recommend both my surgeon and this hospital.

The only thing I think they could improve on is offering the fluids frequently--I always had to ask for them---I wished they would gave me a pitcher of ice and I could have do it myself the 1st day---the the 2nd day if they would come in every 2 hours and offer something that would last for 2 hours. I know on some people you can't do that--but it would not have been a problem with me.

I had one nurse who was very informed on how to treat me. The rest of the staff was far too busy. They are very short staffed and take a long time to answer calls.

The grounds are beautiful! Take that needed walk in the lovely garden! It was wonderful. Food was terrible for baratric patients. One nurse acted as if I was a burden to her....if you want her name (email me privately). She made me feel horrible. I told her to go back to her other patients that she kept reminding me that I was taking her away from...this is while I am the one with the collapse lungs. What a selfish woman. I will never forget her as long as I live.

The third floor of Good Sam is well equiped and knowledgeable about Bariatrics patients. However, I understand the second floor is not very knowledgable.
I had the pleasure of being on the third floor.

The only major complaint I had was having me share a room with someone who was eating 3 meals a day. I had a very hard time smelling food and was quite mad that they would not have been sensitive to my emotions after having this surgery.

This hospital is just learning to deal with Gastric Bypass patients. So you need to know what you can drink and can't.
