I felt the Nursing staff was SDEVERELY understaffed. I went at times without pain medication for hours. and to be honest my wife werved as my nurse more than any of the nursing staff. Much of the staff also displayed incompetence when it came to dealing with handling NG tubes and Catheters. My first "walk" after the surger had to be back and forth at the side of my bed as no one new how to unhook the NG tube from the suction to allow me to move any further. I was literally tethered to the bed on one side by my IVs and the other by my NG tube.

There were many occasions when I would hit the Nurse call button only to have it turned off with no response.

Over all with 2 exceptions, the nursing staff would recieve my absolute lowest possible rating in Nursing care, competence, and even availablity.

I ready like this hospital.Everybody was so nice and when I needed something they were there. All the nurses on 3c was very nice. Can't named them all, they were all great.I would definitly come back to this hospital. It is hard to explain when you get good treatment and they care about you.So all you nurses gets a A+ by me. I had a great experience during my stay. It started with Beth who helped get me ready for surgery. She was so sweet and helped to calm me. I was also very fortunate to have a friend who worked there who gave advance notice that I was coming, so I honestly think I might have gotten special treatment, thanks Nancy! I stayed in the recovery room all night after the surgery and the staff there were great and very attentive. On Tuesday morning, I was blessed with 5 wonderful nurses who took great care of me. I wish I knew their names, but I was not that alert. All I can say is that they were great! Once on the floor I had wonderful nurses Kim J. on the first day and Teri W. for the rest of the time. Both were very kind, caring, patient and understanding and I am grateful for their care. The hospital even had bariatric beds which were extremely comfortable and large gowns! The experience was as good as a hospital experience could be!

My preOp nurse had undergone WLS I found her very comforting. The next 3 days I don't remember much as I was in ICU on a vent but once on the Cardiac floor my primary nurse had also undergone WLS and runs Dr. Smiths support group. I have nothing but good things to say about the hospital, staff, and my surgeon. :)

I didn't have much problems with the hospital. My first day/night out of surgery was rough for me. I really wanted a fan and there were none available. During the night my nurse Heather was wonderful. She brought me as much ice chips as I wanted. She also let me know that my husband had called to check on me and offered to let me call him. (wasn't in any mood to talk to anyone... pain medicine)
