St Luke West Hospital
I had a great experience @ St Luke. When I was in the ICU, I had no complaints, the nurses I had were excellent & where the best I have ever had or known!! When on the floor the level of care was the same.
The only good thing about this hospital was Dr. Tom Sonnanstine and the Tri-State Surgical weight loss Center. When he insisted on a higher standard and better patient care, they showed him the door. The place has clearly decline with his departure. Now that he has left, I would rather get treatment in a Vet Clinic--at least it would be cleaner!
St Luke has a very caring staff, my daughter spent the night with me and they were very accomadating to both of us.
ST. Luke West has been very accommadating from the begining of my journey. Here is an example. While recovering from the operation my second day in the hospital my nurse was unable to locate a shower chair so she covered a oversided chair with plastic. Even though they have a shortage ov shower chairs my nurse went above and beyond in accommadating my needs by covering a chair. This is one small example.
I was very worried after having suffered a stroke after my last surgery but to awake in recovery to see Dr. Tom overseeing my care made me feel like a celebrity.
I stayed 3 nights due to a 100 mile drive home after gastric bypass. The last night was the night from hell. The nurse I had refused to dilute the pain medication before injecting into my IV. She stated that she never dilutes any medication but flushes them instead. This made my whole hand and arm burn for over an hour. I did report her but I think they should give her the medication and let her feel what is like to have your body feel like it is on fire. This one nurse didn't spoil the whole experience for me. The rest of the nurses were excellent. I am very greatful that I had this hellish nurse on my last night and not on my first.
