St. Vincent & Mercy Hospital Hospital
I thought the staff st St. Vincent Hospital was very professional. As with anything else, there were maybe nurse who was as professional as the others and one who went beyond the call of duty in performing her job. This nurse (Andrea) really went out of her way to see that I received everything I needed. She even went as far as to transport me to the car in the wheel chair because it was taking so long for someone to come get me. She did this off the clock I might add, as she was leaving from working a 12 hour shift.
Nonetheless, I would like to thank all of the nurses that assisted me during my stay on the 4th floor. I might add that this was also during the power outage we experienced and everyone remained calm and carried out their jobs in a very professional manner.
Thanks again!
I remember getting to my room after surgery and not begin able to sleep because the PA keeps going off. The hospital needs to purchase more large size gowns for bariatrics. Although I always had one when needed, it seemed to be a struggle to locate them. Overall nurse response was good. All the nurses know the bariatric protocal as the bariatric patients are in the same unit all the time. It was a full house and sometimes I didn't get things when I wanted them right away. That's not because of the staff, but because there were people there in much worse shape than me.
The check-in desk, surgical holding tank, operating room and recovery room were staffed by excellent and professional people. When I woke up in recovery, everyone was around me to start pain management.
The care I received was inadequate especially compared to 9 other previous hospital stays I have had. The nurses never walked with me. Did not assist me with my shower. Did not provide meds on time. Also I had to stay in recovery an extra 7 hours because there were no rooms available. Also the X-ray tech was not sensative at all to my needs or how much pain I was in when I had the leak test done.
