Tri-City Regional Medical Center (COE) Hospital
This is a one-story hospital, so that was different than what I've experience before. The Lobby was clean and nicely decorated. We arrived at 5:00 in the morning. No outside security that we saw and no covered parking. Waited approximatley 30 minutes to be checked in. Check in was quick and was taken to the room I would be in after surgery. Had two LVN that tried 3 times to start an IV and a phlebotomist that tried twice to get blood. I know that I am a hard stick but I have never seen three people so incompetent. I advised the two LVN not touch me anymore and requested that the IV be placed by the anesthesiologist. By the time I was taken to the operating room, I was a nervous wreck and crying. No one tried to calm my fears or acknowlege what I went through. No compassion what so ever. Although I had a private room, there was not a shower in the room, it was in the hall way. They came and asked if I wanted to take a shower and was shocked that I said "NO." I will take a sponge bath before I use a "community" shower. My doctor was great and the licensed nurses were okay but appeared to be going through the motions. There was one LVN that was extremely friendly, except.....i didn't ask you to tell me your life story (I think she needed to vent so I listened with a compassionate ear) However, If I had a choice, I would never go back to this facility again!
**Tri-City Hosptial, Hawaiian Gardens, Ca** Even though this was a Baractric Hospt. of Excellence.. It wasnt very accomadating for larger patients. The beds are small, and the showers are in the hallway, and those are also very tight. There wasnt even a Baratric Floor like most hosptial have, so were are surrounded by alot of sick patients.. This hosptial needs alot of TLC, needs some paint and color.. It just seems ALOT different from any other hosptail that I have been in... I must say that there were a handfull of nurses that I REALLY liked, but I could also tell that each of them did things differently which made me feel kind of uncomfortable.. There should be a protical that they should be trained on and followed the same so patients such as myse;f do not get confused.
As great as the Drs. were, the hospital left a lot to be desired. The biggest problems were the room being infested with ants (I talked to someone who had their surgery 3 years ago and they had the same problem.)
The nurses were either okay or incompetent at times. Took 6 different people to draw blood when I have never had a problem with it before. I got stuck 12 times. They insisted on using a small blood pressure cuff when I kept telling them they needed a big one. Subsequently, they were getting much higher readings and almost didn't release me because of an incorrect reading. (they got a reading of 150/110 when it was actually 126/86 with the right cuff.)
All in all not a good hospital experience.
