Wishard Health Services Hospital
Wonderful, caring, sensitive.... I only had a couple of complaints. They need better training as far as transportation goes. It takes four people to manuver and safefully transport the Gastric Bypass patient in the specially designed bariatric beds. There were times when I was moved with only two. This was problematic. Other than that little glitch I was extremely impressed with this hospital. It was not at all what I expected as Wishard has a somewhat ummm... "Interesting" reputation. I have heard it referred to casually as "The gun and knife club" so I really was pleased to see that it is a large, busy hospital that is not only good at trauma, it has a lot of heart and love too.
For the most part the staff was decent as far as the people on the floor I was on. The transportation staff was horrible. Not only did they hit every bump possible but they were more interested in talking with their friends that passed by then taking care of the task at hand. Some of the nurses acted as if I was just a bother to them. They would rather sit in the hall and talk amongst themselves then help the patients out. My doctor (Dr. Gomez) and his staff was awesome and I wouldn't change them for the world. Without them I couldn't imagine how my stay would have been..
