Interested in what i had to say, and what my concerns were. very friendly and wanted to help me get through this

I met Dr. Coats for the first time June 5th 2002. I recently changed insurance because I wasnt happy with Kaiser. I probably spent well over and hour with him and he listen to me and looked me straight in the eye. Most Dr.s wouldnt touch me, listen or look at me. They just gave me a prescription and sent me on my way. Dr. Coats was so attentive and he checked me out and didnt heistate to touch me or wince when he had to. I felt so comfortable with him. He ordered the right test without hesitation and even wrote me a referral for surgery when I didnt need one. He said to take it just incase something happens and my insurance needs it. At the end of our meeting I was crying with joy because someone actually listen to me. I felt like a human again. Even though my problems are from being overweight he just didnt say "its because your over weight and we cant do anything till you lose weight". He ordered a sleep study and lab work to see if I am diabetic since it runs in my family and to check my dosage on medication. He is a wonderful doctor. I not only want a competent doctor but one that is warm and caring. I would recommend him to anyone. Especially if they are overweight.

Listened to everything I had to say about WLS and was totally supportive in what I wanted!
