Irit Gat Psychologist PH.D.

  • About Me
Irit Gat is a licensed clinical psychologist, who received her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska. She is a full-time, tenured professor of psychology at Antelope Valley College and has been working with bariatric surgery patients since 2005.   “I LOVE working with bariatric patients because I know how successful the surgery is and that each patient’s quality of life and health will improve by leaps and bounds! It’s even more of a bonus working with Dr. Yadegar’s patients because he is such a caring and skilled surgeon, and I know they are in excellent hands. My main priority is to make sure patients are educated about the procedure, have realistic expectations, and are prepared for the long-term lifestyle changes they must commit to in order to be successful. I work with patients to get them more education, support or even therapy if needed. I have seen bariatric surgery work for patients when they continue to do their part. It is a highly effective weight loss tool and leads to better health and an improved quality of life overall. Another bonus is increased self-esteem, enabling patients to go out into the world and achieve things they never thought possible. Currently, this is the only tool I know of that works when all other methods are unsuccessful. It gives people such tremendous hope, they are excited to start their lives anew.“
