Hi everyone! My question is what protein supplememnts do you use/take? I have not had much success on a high protein diet (white meat makes me ) and I am looking to try some supplements. I have tried making a shake before with some mix I bought and I felt like I was trying to swallow wallpaper paste. I am having issues with energy and just know I need that extra boost. Also, I am having issues with my hair falling out and believe this could be to low protein intake as well, does that sound right? So anyways, what are you using or taking? Thanks for your help everyone! ~amber~

I have been taking chocolate flavored Designer Whey, I get it at Walmart for about 20 bucks for a big box, it tastes like chocolate milk when it is mixed. I also eat the met rx protein plus bars also from walmart!! HTH!! Steph

Amber: I do Profect from Protica. It has 25 grams of protein and only 2.9 oz of liquid. I wa**** down with water. I always had problems getting in my shakes until I found this product. I still don't love the after-taste. but I wa**** down with water and it is such little liquid that it is not so bad. I also tried the Isopure for awhile, which is 40 grams of protein but it's this big bottle of liquid and I couldn't handle it, even when I mixed it with Crystal Light or SF Koolaid. However, I know some who don't mind the after taste at all.

Hey Chicky! When I am in need of a quick fix, I get one of those Atkins Advantage shakes from Wal Mart- only 5 bucks there, grocery stores charge an arm and a leg. They vary from 18- 21 grams of protein and are yummy.... I'm not usually a chocolate fan, but I can tolerate those. These are the only ones I've come to like... I got my Isopure sample in the mail today, so we'll see what happens with that one.

Hi Amber, I change it up depending on what's happening that day. My options: Joe Robb whey protein. There's tons of whey protein mixes out there, Steph mentioned one and the Joe Robb one has worked well for me, its light and awesome when run thru the blender with a strawberry or blueberries. 32g protein when mixed with 1 serving vanilla soy milk. Protica is good for days on the run, the container travels well and its a quickie. I like all their flavors. 25g protein, four sips. Isopure premade - I like mango, pineapple and green apple but from what I read its a matter of personal taste. GNC has good prices. Mixes well with other beverages. I dont experience an aftertaste but I do wnat to brush my teeth. 40g protein for the bottle, OK if half is used 1-2 days later. Luna bars, in Target, Trader Joes and sometimes the drug store. 10g protein, crunchy, mostly organic, vitamin enriched (bonus!) Hope this helps. Tiffany

The ones I like the best are: Zero Carb Isopure Premixed And Any Whey Protein Powder. It's 17g a scoop and has no taste a mix it into a Carnation Instant Breakfast using lowfat milk. That gives me a shake for 29 grams. And it's really good. I put some crushed ice in my magic bullet and it makes a great shake. I was really happy when I found this as I didn't like most of the other protein powders that I tried. Good luck. Regards and hugs, Ronns

I'm a fruit and coffee girl myself when it comes to protein. I'm not a big fan of the chocolate ones. I do the Isofruit Protein Delight powder (pineapple) mixed with lots of different crystal light flavors. I also use this to make into smoothies (a couple of oz. low carb yogurt, crystal light, a couple of frozen strawberries, ice and the protein, blend it all up, yummy!!!) I used to do the Nectar fruit (lemonade, fuzzy navel) powders, but I don't like those as much anymore. I'm a huge fan of the AchievOne latte drinks. They taste just like the Starbucks bottled frappucinos, with very few carbs and 20g protein. They're awesome!! I have one every morning. The come in 4 flavors: Mocha, Cappucino, Vanilla Nut & Hazelnut. We have a health food store who carries them locally, but you can order them online at Bariatriceating.com. I highly recommend them. I tried Isopure and thought they tasted like metal. If you're going to try them, buy them from GNC and save your receipt b/c you can return them if you don't like them, even the ones you tried! Hope that helps. Lisa S. 227/171/140

The low energy is probably low protein. The days I go without protein shakes, I feel like I have no energy. I love protein shakes and am not picky on what kind to drink. My favorites are the ones that taste like Mocha. I get a 2 lb. container from Bariatricieating.com for 18.00. Nectar also makes a cappicano protein powder thats good. If you have a question on whats good and whats not, ask me. I've tried them all Maybe order a sample pack and try them til you find one you like. White meat makes me gag too. I started buying boneless and skinless chicken thighs and bake them. I hope you find a protein you like. Kay

GNC has a flavorless whey protein you can add to anything. Mashed potatoes, water, pudding, anything. I don't know the stats, I use the profect powders from GNC and do fine on them. Hope this helps out.

Hi Amber, I can't stand protein shakes or bars. My surgeon dosen't recommend them after 2 months anyway. We are suppose to get our protein from food. Carly
