not losing!!!!
Hi Everyone, It's been awhile since I have written, but I need some HELP. I had my surgery on Jan 24,2006 since then I've only lost 55 lbs!!! I'm doing everything that I am suppose to do but the weight is not coming off like I think it should. I had my 3 month check-up and they told me I was doing fine but since then I have not lost anything else. I am really depressed about this, Please if anyone has had the same problem or can offer me some advice PLEASE do so. Thanks
Hi Linda! I know what you are going thru since I just went thru the same thing. I had mine just a 6 days before you. I went for a check up and was told the same thing. They also told me that your body is changing and just like any diet you will hit plateaus and just needs to catch up. Stop worrying and just do what you were doing and you will see it move again. Also something my surgeon told me is that the average person person loses about a 100 lbs in the first year. We are only almost 4 months post op and we have come this far we are well over 1/2 way there. I was feeling the same way! But now that I look at it that way I am really impressed with my progress. Linda keep up the good work!!! Your doing awesome and I am here as well as everyone else if you need someone to talk to!

Linda,
I had my surgery a week after you. So far I have lost 48 1/2 lbs. I don't think 55 lbs in 3 months is unreasonable. When have you ever lost that much in that amount of time in the past? Just keep doing what you know you are supposed to do and the weight can't help but come off. How are your clothes fitting? I feel like I have lost many more inches than what the pounds account for.
For the past month the weight loss has slowed down but I have shrunk out of more clothes than I did in the first 2 months and my body shape has really changed. More people are noticing and commenting on the changes.
Don't let the scales determine how you feel. Try on clothes that you know either fit or didn't fit at the time of your 3 month check-up and see how they fit now; take your measurements; take monthly or even weekly pictures and compare side by side. Find ways other than the scales to support your progress.
Most of all, keep your chin up...you're doing great!

Linda, I had my surgery the same day and as of Tuesday, I have lost 58 pounds. I looked at your profile and it doesn't say what weight you started at or how tall you are. If you have less to lose from the beginning, you will lose slower than someone who has more to lose. Also, did you have to go on a pre-op diet? If so, you lost a lot of that "water" weight before surgery. But, most importantly, like everyone else has already mentioned, 55 pounds in 15 weeks is amazing!! That's almost 4lbs/week!! I for one, could never have lost at that rate without WLS.
Everyone slows down after the first couple of months. Make sure you are taking your measurements as you're probably losing inches even though you might not be losing pounds. Good luck on your journey and keep up the awesome work!!

Linda:
I WISH I could give you some advice...I cannot. But I CAN tell you that you are not alone. I am in the same boat (and it's sinking!). I have not lost weight in two weeks and, LET ME TELL YOU, it is completely discouraging...especially when we read how great others are doing.
So.....{{{{BIG HUGS TO YOU}}} from one slow loser to another!
Love,
Jersey Mom
