WOMAN Challenge
Hey everyone, I just came accross this online and I thought I would pass it on to others. It's called Woman's Challenge, and what you do is keep track of all the steps you take throughout a day, the challenge is to meet 10,000 steps a day and you get to pick a route in the US, as you input your steps each day you will see where you have progressed on your route. They were giving out pedometers but now it's too late, but they are inexpensive to buy, my was $8 at Walmart...I've seen them cheaper. Anywho, they will give you emails to encourage you to walk more and get more steps, you can even count riding a bike, or gardening, and cleaning the house...wooo hooo. So, check out here :

Give it a try...I'm doing the Pacific Coast Route...I hope I make it!!! It goes from May 21st...although you can start counting your steps now till I think July 8th.

Yea, I think this is really cool to get women out there to walk and gives incentives along the way. Now, as for the pedometer you have to set your stride so it accurately gets all the steps...mine says to walk 10 steps, measure the distance, dvide that by 10 and that is your stride length...how you enter it in, may differ from each pedometer...mine (Sportsline Ped.) enter into the Distance hit the Mode button till 18 is show in there and then hit Set. You may want to refer to your book on how to set it up.
I had this little pedometer by Sportsline and it was great then I lost it, now I have a newer one by them as well but I am not as happy with it. I may check into something else later down the road, it's one that flips up and down...supposedly to make it easier to read as you walk...but the darn thing sometimes flips down when I walk and I don't think it's counting the steps when it does....ugh!!!! Anywho, if you haven't bought one kinda look around, they are not that expensive anywhere from $3-$20 depending on what you want and where you get it, some have FM radios in them and the really cool ones have MP3 but of course they are $100 smacks.
Good Luck!!!
