Everyone lost? I had surgery on 1/31/06 and am only down about 58 pounds. Am I doing something wrong because it seems like y'all have lost more than that in 3 1/2-4 months?

Hi Jennifer, Try not to compare yourself to everyone else. We all started at different weights & heights. Unfortunetly everyone also as a different metabolism. I've lost 87 pounds but started at 265. Hang in there your doing great. Carly

Hey Jen: When anyone posts something like this, I always join in their refrain...I, too, am a slow loser but I think it might be because my water intake and protein intake is low. So I am getting inspiration from the folks here and upping everything! I have lost 61 lbs since January 30th. I am rejoicing but sometimes it really IS hard to read about everyone having much more success...but I will never begrudge anyone their happiness and success! Good luck and much hugs, Jersey Mom

Hi Jenifer and J.M.: Look it in a positive way. If you are loosing steady altough slowly, you will reach your goal later, but you will reach it with the advantage of leting your skin to adjust to your new sizes!!!! In fact the probability to have hanging skin on slow loosers is smaller than the great loosers!!! Hang on there you are doing fine, do not compare with others we are all different!!!! You are down more than me and in less time. My Doc says 10 to 15 a month is a good healthy number. I am down 54 lbs. right now and have been the same since last Thurs. This urks me because up to last Wed. I had been loosing 1/2 to 1 a day for about 3 weeks, now it stops again, but it picks up. You are where you should be, not someone else, you are still loosing. If you need some ideas, you can try these things. 1. up your protein 2. change your exercise routine 3. up your calorie intake each day 4. up your water intake I found I started loosing more when I ate more. Also water flushes the fat out, and keeps you from retaining water. Exercise can become routine and your body gets use to it, you have to change i up alot. We have to have protein to keep the muscles from being used as fuel. One pound of muscle burns 50 more calories a day than fat. It also weighs more than fat. Hope this helps

I only lost 2 lbs. last week and was a little upset about that but I keep telling myself, "At least I'm loosing". Look it at like that. When have you ever lost 58 lbs. in less than 4 months?? Stay positive and keep doing what your surgeon tells you to do. It will come off. Take Care Kay

I had surgery 1/16 - four months ago and I have lost 68 pounds. And through my journey I have gained about 9 pounds. I would lose and them be back up then lose and be back up. Anyway, I saw my doc last week, my labs are all good and he was happy with the weight loss. God Bless, Jen
