How is everyone doing with certain foods?
Helo everyone:
I was just curious to see how everyone else is dealing with certain foods? My tummy cant tolerate bacon and I tried steak the other nite and i ended up coming back up...ughhh.
It seems like to me that I eat the same things over and over cuz I dont want to get sick...but I am sooooo bored with food. Yesterday and today it took me awhile to eat(almost 3-4pm) and then when I eat i eat fast and then feel like poop. I have tried the wait 2-3 weeks and try things again but never fails certain foods just dont agree and I hate that feeling that you tummy is upset and it feels like something is stuck and you cant drink anything for awhile.
Ok thank you for letting me vent about food anger.......you guys are the best!!!!

Tina,
Boy do I know that feeling. I have gotten to where I don't want to eat. Most of the time it hurts or I have to get rid of it. I do drink my protein shakes. Most of the time I blend them enough to where that are like pudding and I can eat then. I LOVE THEM! More than food. There are a few things that don't hurt but that is few and far in between. chicken doesn't do good but I can eat a little steak and pork. I GUESS OUR TOOL IS WORKING. Ellie
I can't eat chicken either. I can eat steak. Did you cut up the steak into the size of erasers and then chew them alot. I love steak and eat it as often as I can.
If you think you have something stuck or you are ready to up chuck, taking a sip of water is ok. All surgeons will tell you this, of course ask. But it will help.
I can't eat sugar or heavy fat. Ranch Dressing really gets me. I also had a problem with brisket in BBQ sauce.
You really need to stop putting off eating, if you make your pouch upset, even just feeling like poo, the next meal wont sit well. Make your pouch happy, eat within an hour of getting up and then at regular times thru the day so you don't get too hungry. First thing in the am give Dannon lite and fit carb control yogart a try. It is soft and goes down easy, a nice start to the day. I really like it.
I know it is hard to find a new way of living with food. But you have too, we now eat to live. Try starting a meal off with some soft food, sort of buffering your pouch, then take tiny bites of the other food. Put your fork or spoon down between bites. Wait to see if you are too full or if you really need to chew more. Have a soft food to eat when it feels like something is stuck. It can work like a drink of water.
I hope you take this in the way it was ment to be, trying to help is all.

Tina~
Sorry about your food troubles. Make sure you are taking small bites and chewing the heck out of it before swallowing.
I eat the same things all the time too because I am afraid it will get stuck and give me the foamies. I haven't tried steak yet but sure would love a nice juicy one. The only foods I cant tolerate is pasta, chicken breast and bacon.I was doing good with chicken breast but all of a sudden, it started making me sick so I now buy skinless thighs. Ground beef usually makes me sick but today was the first time it went down well. I took very small bites.
I hope it gets better for you

Hi Tina, sorry about the food issues, just wanted to say that I have been eating a lot of the same things too, because I am afraid to try new stuff! I havent really gotten sick yet, and I dont want to! I havent tried steak, because I had beef jerky and it made me double over in pain, same with broccoli. Those are about the only things that I had trouble with. I do eat a lot of luncheon meats, and i get them shaved, so much easier to get down that way, and lots of protien! Good luck!

Hi Tina,
i have the same problems at times. I can pretty much eat whatever for foods, but I have had a few problems with steaks if I didnt chew them well enough. Other than that, I can't tolerate more than probably 10 gms of sugar at once, not that I try too, I was playing around one day and found out by mistake!! My other problem has been eating too late or not eating at all. I have been on my cycle for going on 3 weeks now off and on and that hasnt helped one bit!! I dont lose if I am on it so that makes things worse......I was hoping my estrrogen would just run out and I could go back to losing but oh no, not here...I hope things get better for you though!! Much love to you girl,
Steph
Oh Stephanie
I sure feel your pain...I would be screaming right about know on the 3 weeks on and off. 6-7 days is HE## for me. I really think that I need to slowww down and start chewing some more. I really havent tried to play with foods high in sugar(except the one day I snuck a mini-snickers and almost melted!!) If you dont chew well enough does the food just sit there and not dissolve? I know that sounds weird to ask but hey i wont know till I do. Right?
Thank you soooo much guys you really brightened my day in knowing I am not alone!!

Hey there Tina....
No it isn't a silly question!! I actually get very ill if I dont chew them well enough. They end up stuck in my pouch and then I know I am in for it. I don't know about others but if I get something stuck or it just doesnt sit well with me then my mouth waters like pavlov's dogs did. I know then that I had better head for the bathroom or I am in serious trouble. It has only happened a few times but those times I will not soon forget I am sure. Don't worry your pretty head off though, I am sure we all go through it at one time or another. We will make it through this together!!! Take care of yourself!

Hi Tina,
I'm the same way, a lot of things don't agree with me, so I stick to a few main stays. Ocassionally I try something new and do ok, sometimes I'm sick all night. SO I just experiment cautiously. My nutritionist wants me to experiment with more protein, so about once a week I make an effort to try something new or something I haven't had in a while.
Example: eggs, had eggs twice and they made me really sick early on. I waited about 2-3 months and just had them a week ok and tolerated them fine. Have had them a few times since.
Another example: steak. 1st time made me sick, stayed away for a while, tried again, tolerated ok. Tried a third time and was sick all night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I wish I had some good advice, but the best thing i can say is be easy on yourself and know you are not alone!!!!!!!!
lots of love
Christie
