Does Biotin work at all?
I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones when it came to hair loss as I didn't start until well into my fourth month; however, nowadays and for the last couple of weeks my hair is EVERYWHERE. Luckily I have a lot of it, but it is also one of the things I am most vain about (fat or thin, I've always at least gotten complimented on my hair...as a (former) fat girl (tee hee) I at least had that to hang onto).
Anyway, I have heard a lot of people tell me that there is absolutely nothing you can do or take to stop the hair loss. Anyone taking Biotin agree with that or do you think it helps?
Thanks!
Beth
Beth,
You do have beautiful hair! Mine is thinning out and someone today told me they can tell (ouch). Thankfully I have a ton of hair to begin with. I am taking Biotin but haven't noticed a difference but it's only been a few weeks. It's definitely worth a try! You look beautiful either way!!!

Aw, thanks for the kind words Karen! I am up and down about buying the Biotin and giving it a try...but perhaps even mentally thinking I'm doing something to stop the hair loss will help. Who knows...the brain is a powerful thing sometimes!
I have tons of hair too so I'm hoping it doesn't get to a point where anyone can tell besides me. I ask my BF if he can tell but it's kind of like asking him if I look fat in something...what's he gonna say, yes? He's not that stupid!

I have purchased and began using the biotin shampoo, conditioner, scalp treatment, biotin sublingual and after doing all of that my surgeon and nutritionalist both swear that the patients that intake all of their protein and even plus some havent had a problem losing their hair--I am almost 5 months out and stopped using the biotin products as of month 2 and have had no problems with losing my hair (not saying it wont happen) and its actually thicker then prior to surgery so who knows--I think you will get 1,000 different responses re this-good luck

Yeah, my surgeon did tell me that if I get in all my protein I should not have a huge problem. I have stopped logging my protein like I used to and do it more now on a mental note in my head, and I probably am not hitting my goal like I used to. Thanks for the reminder - I am going to have reaching my protein goal (minimum 80 grams, darn it) as my biggest goal for the next few weeks.
Thanks Lori!
The one thing that I have NEVER had a problem with since surgery is getting all my protein and then some. I usually hit waaay over 80-90 grams a day and I am still losing handfuls of hair. I have also taken the biotin supplements since before the surgery and then once again afterwards as soon as I could swallow pills, however, it's just something I have to grin and bear I thin****il it's done.
