TMI Question
I have a "tmi" question for you all....
Have any of you ever broken out with a rash under your belly roll? I have one ... and it's red and quite irritated. It's not heat rash though. It's wear my stomach hangs over. I told Lyle we should start documenting this with pictures now so when the time for my tummy tuck appears, we will have a timeline of why it's medically necessary for me to have a tummy tuck. Anyhow the area feels very "scaley" and itches a little. Today I wore a bigger pair of underwear and kinda have the underwear pulled up between my belly roll and the skin underneath. I was thinking of just putting some Benadryl cream on it until my next physical next month.

Aw, I am sory that is happening
My only suggestion is to put some sort of healing lotion on it and maybe some gold bond powder to prevent chaffing. Taking pics is a great idea, because this is why some insurances pay for TT.
Good luck with this and let us know what works and what doesn't, as I am certain many more will face this issue in the upcoming months.

Susan,
I have suffered with this even before the surgery, especially so when pregnant, so I can advise you what my docs have told me and what personally works for me. Before that, however, I do encourage you to take pictures to document it for insurance purposes. I knew going into this surgery that I wouldn't have just a little poochy belly and some sagging skin. I knew that I would have a hanging apron and so I spoke with a representative from my insurance company ahead of time to ask about what to do.
I was told to not only document with pictures, but each and every time I got a rash, suck it up, pay the co-pay and go to the doctor -- again for documentation purposes. Kind of like having to prove that you've actually tried to diet before the surgery approval. I have hubby take these pictures (and then embed them and password them deep in the computer - but that's a whole other set of self-image issues LOL). I also have him take the dreaded nekkid pics monthly in addition to the ones you lovely people see (again embedded, passworded and buried) to show that the apron is shrinking, but still present. Again, all on the advice of the insurance rep.
That being said, what my doc has told me to use and what works extremely effectively for me is athelete's foot powder, since most of the rashes that I get in that area tend to turn fungal or yeasty. I use the Lotrimin AF Powder and it works quickly and wonderfully.
This is not a TMI question at all. I think alot of us are going to have this issure this summer. The anti fungle med is a good idea. There is also Ammens medicated powder you can try too. Sometimes the moist lotions will cause discomfort, the powder might give you more relief. But remember, it could be a yeast infection, that needs special meds, so keep an eye on it and go to the doc if you need.
Hi Susan
Not TMI and definately start documenting and tell your doctor. I think what you are eperiencing is a yeast infection. I get this under my "boobs" on occasion, especially when it's hot and humid. You need to make sure that you keep the area really clean and dry. Baby powder will help. And when it get irratated I use a little Neosporin and it seems to do the trick.
Good luck!
Regards and hugs,
Ronna

I get this every summer...ever since my first c-section and I have had a panni.
1) Document everything. Photos and trips to the doctor so that it's recorded and when TT time comes around, there is your "medical necessity"!
2) Try not to use baby powder or any type of powder, though I know it does temporarily feel like it helps. It actually will irritate it. Use Lotrimin AF either spray, powder or cream.
I have had only one bout of it this year thus far but as the weather gets hotter, I'm sure I will be suffering again. I plan to make the trek to the doctor even though I know how to "cure" it, just to have it documented.

Well I am wondering when mine is going to flare up myself. But what works wonders for that between your legs in the folds and under the boobs is... Deodarant. I use Degree and everytime it flared up I would do it. And it works and you have it already. Just put it where you sweat alot.
Hope this works,
Heather
Hi Susan
I had the same rash under one of my rolls and I went to the dr. becasue it never went away. She prescribed me a topical powder called "Nystatin Powder" and it works good and quick. She told me that the rashes are to be expected when we loose weight this quick. Like everyone else says, document the rashes and be sure to show your pcp so you have proff. I keep them clean and dry and apply the powder.

Lamasil tablets from your dr. or lamasil cream (no prescription needed) works. My pharmacy keeps the cream in the pharmacy, you just have to ask for it. I do get it on my leg/belly area at times, and the weirdest part, in my belly button now. I guess it finally is open enough to trap moisture.
