To our dear Special Kay: I feel so bad that you are feeling down. Please perk up. I don't get as much protein as I should either, but my labs just came back great. I have added an additional protein bar before working out. I eat the Pria chocolate peppermint (Walmart has them). They are only 6 grams of protein, but it seems to help with having enough energy to workout. I have never been able to drink protein shakes. I've also been adding a banana a day...1/2 in the am as a snack & the other 1/2 in the evening. It's helped with the cramps that I was getting in my toes. (potassium I think). You're doing fantastic!! I always look forward to reading your posts. Keep you head up--you ARE special. Kathy

I know how you are feeling with the overwhelming obsession that comes with food nowadays. I hate to eat anymore and wouldnt if I didnt need to. Dont beat yourself up, hand me a paddle and I will help you row to shore!! Too bad we didnt live closer, we could all go fishing and eat what we catch!!! You are doing a fabulous job and you just remember that!! I love you and know that you are doing great!! Steph

please Kay, don't stress over this---just add 1 thing: a string cheese or pro bar or stallone pudding (break it up 1-2 bites every couple of hours), etc.... you are doing great----man, if you knew what I eat you would feel like the poster child for WLS!!! you are working your program in a way I really admire---you always seems balanced, focused and super positive to me---so don't go lulu over a few grams of protein---- Cathy

Hi Cathy! Thanks for responding. I have felt really positive about this journey but for some reason I started going lulu over protein. I had to stop, take a deep breath and tell myself that I'm doing the best that I could do. Thanks again Kay

Kay, ((((((((((((BIG HUG)))))))))))))))) I hate to eat, I get mad at myself all the time, I don't like drinking so much and I always feel like I am eatting so much. I was doing fitday, BUT if I was eating more than 500 cals a day I would stress over it. So I just stoped going to fitday. Most days I feel full, however there are some days when I just can not get enough. I think with all the weight "falling" off we don't have a "body guard". I know I harder on my self than anyone else, I say to you relax, enjoy and believe! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! You are worth so much more than what you are giving yourself! If you can not believe in yourself, Just know that I am believeing in you! As far as the water, I drink so much so I don't eat. That is the truth, I have to keep my hands busy, or my head says you are hunger. SO if I am drinking then I have no room for food. Email me any time you need someone to talk to, Shoot call me if you would like! Much Love, Melissa

Hi Kay! I have had a continual battle with getting in my protein. My doc recs at least 70g, ideally closer to 100g a day. I was doing well for a while, then moved and my feeding schedule got thrown out of whack. Now, I am trying to get back on track, and I get about 65-70g a day... which isn't bad, but isnt great either. Basically, I have to eat protein for every meal and supplement it with a nectar drink a day or else i don't get it all in. Which, this is frustrating to me, because I have to eat all protein all day, if I have anything else (carbs, startch, etc) then I get full off of that and don't eat protein. So, it is a struggle. I agree with those who say to not stress over this... i still think it is important and it is a good sign that you are concerned... but it is what it is. You have recognized the concern, now move forward, increasing the daily intake. Good luck and take care! Mary

Hi Kay. Sorry you're feeling so down about this...but don't! You're doing so well. Over time it'll get better. Everyone else has said great things and have given good suggestions, so I really don't have much to add. Your doc "recommends" that you get 85 g of protein every day. He doesn't say you must or you'll burn. I mean, you do what you can, so in my opinion you're doing you're very best. If you're labs are fine, then keep up with what you're doing. If I didn't have a protein shake as a snack during the day, I would only be getting 65-75 g of protein per day. Maybe try a protein packed shake? An iced protein coffee?? Just a few suggestions. Also, Profect vials aren't the best thing on the earth, but it gives you a punch of protein. I would suggest getting in more water....remember it can be crystal light, decaf tea, diet juice....maybe easier to get down? It's summertime and I wouldn't want you getting all dehydrated. If I don't get enough fluids during the day I get a banging headache, so I know how you feel. Just remember, you're doing a great job, and tomorrow's a new day! April
