Hi Katie I am an office assistant for New York Times Newspaper. I did do a lot of work from home but lately I've been going in the office to do things. I'm a Medical Assistant and worked in a dialysis center for a year but once I moved, it was hard to get a job becasue I didn't get certified through that state. I'm going back to school in August to take Medical Administration/ Transcription. My friend just finished school for dental assistance and got her first job 2 weeks ago. She loves it. Good luck in your decision Kay

Thanks Kay! All my training was in office for the doc I worked for, so I'm not certified either.

I worked for Verizon (although it was New York Telephone when I worked there) for 26 years. I took an early retirement at age 43...they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I worked part-time for the last 4 years as a receptionist as a veterinary clinic. I loved it there, but I wanted to have this summer off to become healthy. I have been having a ball being a "lady of leisure". I'm just getting my resume together & will probably start looking for a new job in Sept. I'm trying to decide if I want to work part time or full time. If I plan on having plastic surgery of any kind I will need a few years of full time. Kathy

I worked in the dental field for 7 years and let me tell you it is a very stressful workplace. You are dealing with people that would rather ba ANYWHERE else than in the office. Most of them are in pain which makes them more miserable. In addition to that there is no simple procedure. What might be booked as a 30 min filling could turn into a 3 hour root canal and make the whole schedule behind and cause you to miss lunch. I hated every day of it and because it is a place of professionalism I couldn't express my frustration there. Instead I took it home and vented on my family. I, personally, would not want to be in the dental field every again. Dawn
