Excited and Scared!

My mom is in surgery right now having WLS. I am so happy for her and am terrified at the same time. Which, of course is irrational seeing as I just went through this and everything was fine... but still, its a major surgery and I am nervous for not only the actual surgery but for also the next few months. My first few months were rough and I don't want my Mom going through it... BUT, of course I am so excited for her. Gah, such an emotional roller-coaster I am on right now... and can not eat through it. (So I will do the next best thing: shop)

I understand you being scared, and you know the feelings of the first little bit of time. I'll say a prayer for your family. Now you'll get a skinny mother, too besides you becoming a skinny minny! Karla

It's natural for you to be nervous. You've been through it and can relate to her experience, but that is great for her. You will undoubtedly be a huge source of support for her!! I'll keep her in my thoughts for a quick and healthy recovery. Keep us posted on her progress. Lisa S.

My mom was considering the surgery--but she's now lost about 60 pounds with WW--. She worried that she was a little old for the surgery---I didn't think so, but she doesn't really like Dr's much and I think that was partly the reason. Good luck to your mom--it's s very bold and courageous decision and I wish her the best. She must be very proud and pleased of how you've done or she probably wouldn't have wanted the surgery herself---such a compliment to you, really. Keep us posted on her progress--- Cathy

Prayers for you, your mother and the family. Let's not forget the surgeon too. I'm sure she'll be fine...afterall, she's got the love and support of her daughter. And who better to support, someone who's experienced the same thing. She'll be fine. Lead her to enjoyment! Best wishes to you both. Kim P.
