Lately I have been using 8th continent light soy milk in my protein shakes and cereal instead of skim milk because there is less calories etc only 50 calories compared to 90 and the sugar is only 2 grams however I noticed that in the ingredient list it has sugar and fructose where as skim milk doesnt- would skim be the better choice then? Any opinions are appreciated-thanks-Lori

I drink Fat free calorie countdown milk. It comes in Low Fat and Fat Free and they also have chocolate. Calorie countdown has less carbs and sugar then skim. Kay

I started on soy milk years ago and would never go back to regular milk. It took awhile to get used to a different taste but now its milk that tastes odd to me. Soy milk has natural sugars and less cholesterol. And unless you drink organic milk you're also getting a nice dose of antibiotics/hormones/stuff that is in today's dairy. Personally, I prefer the already refrigerated soy milk products rather than the boxed ones. But when I had to (traveling) I drank boxed and it was just fine. The vanilla flavor is typically in the OK range for my sugars - I am allowed anything under 16g. Enjoy!

Hi there I have a question for you-the 8th continent has listed sugar and fructose in the ingredient list-do you know if those brands that you drink have that listed as well-I LOVE soy milk and really dont want to switch back to skim especially after reading an article in PETA re what is in the milk we drink-ugh plmk if you get a chance-thanks a bunch Lori

Well.....just so happens I have two brands in my fridge. Neither has sugar or fructose listed but both have evaporated organic cane juice as a third ingredient. THe Organic Valley Vanilla has 10g sugar and 5g protein. The Silk Vanilla has 7g sugar and 5 g protein. I usually buy Silk but was sidetracked by a sale and coupon hence I now have a carton of both.

Oh Tiffy you touched a sore subject on dairies You have to do your research in today's dairy industry... some dairies DO use hormones and whatnot to promote milk production in their cows. But for those of us in California we don't have to worry about that with Foster Farms dairy products Go Fosters! I tried the vanilla soy- so didn't care for it lol....

Its great to know that Cali has put emphasis on non hormones and whatnot in their dairy. Fosters has a great reputation! I;ve done a lot of research and agree that its pretty scary what's out there......
