Hang in there Norma. If you want to cut back some, you'll have to make yourself and choose your food wisely. Hang w/ mostly protein and a little bit of carbs. You'll get there. Karla

Hey Norma, I have to say you are not alone with this. Just posting and asking for help is the first step to correcting the problem. Like I have heard many many times - they operated on our stomachs and not our brains. It takes a while to develope healthy eating habits, especially if you fall off track once in a while. It's been said to not deprive yourself of things you might crave, if you crave chocolate find a suitable alternative - maybe a chocolate protein bar. If you crave carbs or something cruchy try eating Protein Crisps (Soy Crisps). Some of the things that I do is post what I am eating sortof as a public shaming, I do the daily "what did you eat today" thread on the California board. By having to post what I am eating I feel like I have to make better food choices. Surround yourself with healthier foods, that way you make it easier for you to succeed. I hope this has helped you a little... Dana

SNAP SNAP SNAP GET A GRIP STOP IT NOW .... ok I was actually talking to myself as I just finished eating a handful of lays .... Seroiusly, sounds like you have a carb problem (ME TOO!) Cut out he carbs for a few weeks and the cravings will go away. Eat meat, cheese, leafy green veggies, cauliflower. Throw out the pizza's, cheetos and wheat soup. God Bless! Jen

I'm sorry your having problems, Norma. You know what your doing is bad so the next step is to make yourself make wiser food choices. I know that's so much easier said then done after we have had years of making the wrong choices. In the beginning I stuck to a eating schedule and that helped me. Trade your snacks for protein shakes or more fluids. We are here to help and support you so stick around and ask for help and suggestions when you need them. Like I said before, knowing that I have to post my menu, also helps me. Tell yourself that you ARE going to do better tomorrow and you ARE going to stop snacking. You have been blessed with a awesome tool. Use it wisely! Hang in there and remember PROTEIN FIRST! Kay

You guys are great. I will be around here more. I am going to do better tomorrow and I will post my menu. That will help. Talk to you all soon. Oh by the way how do I avoid being hungry. I feel like I am hungry all the time. Why?

Drink Drink your water! Also avoid drinking too close to eating and too close after eating. If you wash the food out of your pouch too soon you will feel hungry again. Try to set a timer, my surgeon said to wait 1 hour, see if you can stretch it to 1.5 hours or even 2. then wait a little longer before eating again after you drink. Also eat more dense proteins that will help keep you feeling fuller longer. Dana

Norma, I am glad you are here Now, about your food intake... it could be worse... but you are right in realizing it could be better. I would suggest going back to the "basics": ~track all your food (calories, carbs, protein, fat, etc). i use fitday.com... then you can see where you are having problems and what times of the days are the hardest. if you can pinpoint your trouble spots, you can fill that time with other activities. ~always eat protein first... then if there is room have carbs (fruits, veggies, whole grains) ~drink water through out the day Just by looking at this one days menu, I can offer some suggestions of small alterations that could may make a big difference: 1.) Replace the raisin bread with whole grain and add 1 tsp sugar free jam for sweetness 2.) replace the wheat soup with oatmeal mixed with protein powder 3.) instead of 2 cups cantaloupe, have low fat cottage cheese with a few chunks of fruit in each bite. 4.) instead of lean cuisine pizza try the lean pocket ultras- they are light and have a thinner whole wheat crust, whereas the lean cusine ones are white and thicker. Just some ideas. By no means am I a perfect eater, but I hope what I said helps Mary

Norma! I hear you girl! Last week with AF I could eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING! Boy am I paying for it now, though lol. Cut the carbs dear.... increase the protein and veggies/fruit. I am in love with the Apple Dippers at Micjeky Ds if I'm traveling.... Appleas are 30 cals and 6 sugar grams... but if you use the caramel dip only 100 cals total and 15 grams sugar. Email me anytime chicky!

A couple of weeks ago all I wanted to eat was fruit the more fruit I ate the more I wanted. I talked with the Nut. and she told me to try to eat more solid protiens (chicken, beef, cheese) and dont eat any fruit for a while. The craving for fruit final left. I did this plus i started taking long walks in the evening time (my worst time) and that helped as well.
