Hi everyone! For once I have a serious question he he. What kind of alchohol have you tried, and how did it affect you? Some friends wanna go out later this month and I wanna try some alchohol- never have had it in any quantity over a couple sips and I was so large, it had no effect over me at all. I've heard it hits you fast, but then subsides quicker? I dunno... give me your thoughts! And what about our pouches? Is Pookie gonna be ok??? they're talking about doing Tequila shots lol... I dunnnnoooooo about that ha! Lemme know peeps *Jaci*

I've had a margarita, but just one and it hits hard and fast, but goes away fairly quickly, too. I don't know that I would try tequila shots. It's your choice though. (get the bartender to pu****er in a shot glass & pretend it's tequila. you'll probably have just as much fun) Karla

A voice of experience is telling you ... do not do tequilla shots .. especially if you are not a "seasoned" drinker. You will be very very very sorry. You can ask how I know if you want~ God Bless! Jen

I've had alcohol a good number of times so here's some of my experiences and thoughts. I always have wine, beer or champagne, most often wine. I did not drink hard stuff much pre-op and have not had it since. I would not think of doing a shot but that was not even my thing pre-op. Beer works if it's poured into a glass to reduce the carbonation. You get buzzed faster and you come down faster. I always have something to eat before drinking so there's something in my system. For every alcoholic beverage I have a glass of water and dont count tha****er in my day's totals. Sometimes pookie is OK sometimes it feels like draino and I know after 1 sip that there will be no more. You have to look at it differently, too, because we're used to drinking as much as we can with our water thing. Hence, the tendency to drink quickly can occur and its important to go slow. I never, ever think of driving if I've had alcohol, hence I seem to drink only when I travel and we all know that's a lot!! Seriously. It has to be a firm rule because we dont know our blood alchohol levels. I plan to try and test it out, my neighbor is a state trooper and he likes to bring out the blow machine at get togethers. I've just not been drinking when I see him or he's not been around when I am tipsy to try it out. seriously! And just like pre-op, booze brings down your inhibitions - munchie eating, karioke, wild woman dancing - they can all happen, just like before. Alternatively, its odd/powerful/insightful to be the sober one and see/be with friends getting drunk. Have fun, enjoy in moderation and you wont have a killer dehydration hang-over the next day . (not like I'd know...) ~T

I know I have tried drinking many times even though my doc says never again. I have never had a problem drinking or holding my liqour post op, that is until Saturday. I drank 3 1/2 drinks over a few hours. All of a sudden it hit me and I was freaking drunk it was crazy. Like I had to lay down and rest for a few hours drunk. Afterwards my husband said he thought it was because the only thing I ate that day was a piece of toast with peanut butter. That had to be it. Even if you feel ok be careful because I felt fine then BAM it happened. Crazy how these pouches are fine one day and totally crazy the next! I agree with the others though you should probably stay away from the tequila shots.

Jaci~ I honestly don't think Tequila shots would be a good choice for you since you have never drank and just had wls. That is VERY strong!! I have tried "Rum & Diet coke" and a few other mixed drinks. The sweeter drinks make me feel queezy because of the sugar. The rum and diet coke was fine.. I'm sticking to them for now on. Also Vodka and Diet 7up sits good with me. Now it only takes 1 to feel the effect's of alchohol. It hits me before I even finish my first drink. Just take it slow and make sure your not driving that night! Kay * I hope I didn't sound like a heavy drinker because I'm not at all!
