Hi Jen,
I was told for to get chewable Flintones or any kind of childrens vitamins and take the adult recommendations. The nutrishonist said they will taste good and desolve better then adult chewables. Then instead of paying a lot of $$ for calcium tablets, take 3 Tums a day. I just had my 2 1/2 hour nutition class today.
Hope this helps!

Hi Jen,
I got the centrum chewables (orange flavor). I was told to take 1 in the am and 1 in the pm, I also got tums (assorted flavors) for calcium (told to take 2) or you can get Viactiv but I was told to take 1000mg of calcium per day, and I got liquid B12 from GNC.
Hope this helps.

I have been told to find a chewable or liquid multivitamin with chelated minerals. So far I have heard that Country Life brand tastes ok and are easy on the pocketbook. I know there are several brands on the market made specifically for bariatric surgery patients. My surgeon says to avoid children's vitamins. I haven't tried any yet (I'm still taking my prenatals from last year!) but will soon.
Regarding calcium, I need to find a Calcium Citrate plus Vitamin D or Chelated Calcium as this type is best absorbed by gastric bypass patients...NOT Tums.
It's funny how our doctor's opinions differ, isn't it?
I also need: Sublingual B12 or monthly injections at doctor's office.

I was also told to avoid the children chewables and they suggested Calcium Citrate plus Vitamin D rather than tums. I have another calcium capsule and they said I could open it and sprinkle it into food; have not tried this so no reviews on taste as of yet. Tums has some sort of enzyme in it which messes with our new pouches.
there are lots of liquid vitamins at whole foods but am looking for the right chewable as we'll have enuf challenges drinking our water, why add something more?
With that, do look at any chewable's ingredients for fructose or other sugar, I made this mistake with my C.
Remember no E for two months pre/post and no spice/herb that starts with a G for two weeks pre and 4 weeks (at least) post - garlic, ginger, ginkoba, ginsing, etc....they thin the blood making healing more challenging. Same with advil/alleve/ibuprofin. My surgeon is hot on this particular item.
