I'm a loser baby...
Hey all! Well I made it! I am now officially on the other side. I was released from the hospital at 11am today. All in all not too bad an experience. The worse part was the stuff they make you drink for the leak test. They wanted to hold off on my meds until after it (so I was working on about 7 hours!) and they failed to mention it can make some people vomit. So of course I hacked up a lung. But once the anti-nausea meds and pain meds kicked in I was a-ok. I did a lot of walking in the hospital which helped a ton. Where the drain was hurt/was the most sore and boy did it feel weird coming out!
I got to meet Robby from the boards who is so sweet! Let us know when you get home! And I got to see Wesley again and compare notes on what we were each experiencing. It was really nice to actually "know" a few people from OH and commiserate over the leak test!
I am so glad to be home. I am existing on water, crystall light and jello but so far it seems to be going down fine, and honestly I am not hungry at all. (Mike had a steak last night for dinner - poor boy has been living on fast food for the last few day - and it didnt bother me at all! No cravings, no jealousy)
My best piece of advice for all my fellow January babies is walk walk walk! Its rough at first but gets better and boy does it help with the gas!
Hugs to you all!
Beth
Beth,
Congratulations on being on the losing side. Sounds as if you had an uneventful surgery...thank God. I really needed this post more than you know. I have been worried sick about this surgery and to know that you did so well and home in 2 days is great. I will most certainly take your advice and do as much walking as I can. I can only hope I do as well as you. Good luck in your weight loss and be sure to keep us all posted on how you are doing.
Hugs,
Deb H.
The drain didn't hurt but it was definately the oddest feeling I have ever had. Made my tummy flip flop for a moment. I think the thing was over a foot long, you can feel it from your throat to your toes. But it is pulled out so fast all you can think is, wow thats odd and it's over. And it felt so good to have it out. Im a little sore tonight - definately not someone who could not take their pain meds when they get home, but its managable. Im noticing that when I go from sitting to standing I need to take a minute to stretch out my muscles or I look like I am an old woman all hunched over. I'm trying to walk a lot and get rid of the gas. I think thats my biggest complaint is the gas. But I hear the third day is the worse for gas and thats the day I am on. Had some tomato soup for dinner and it was quite yummy! Still have no appetite - hope that lasts a while!!
Hugs,
Beth
