With getting in all the required liquids that is. 48 oz fluid and 24 oz protein. This seems impossible to me. Im lucky to get 18oz fluid and 12oz protein. I feel fine but for some reason I have a nagging feeling everyone else is doing better. Any suggestions? kristi

Kristi, I too was a little concerned about this. I have a few co-workers who went through this and are a couple weeks ahead of me in the post op groove. I was no where close to getting what I needed and was wondering how it would be possiblle. One thing I was advised was that this is a GOAL of where you needed to get to. The others all advised it took them a while to get to the point where they could eat/drink all that was required. I am 1 week post op as of yesterday and I think today will be the first day I will get my: 60 oz H2O 60 grams protien (in 22 oz protien drinks) 20 grams of fat So there obviously is a period ot time to get there. It seems impossible at times, but I am sure you too will get there. Everyone achieves at a different rate. My friend had her 3 week appt and they told her she was not eating enough and she cried. She had to force herself to get it down and to be creative in how she got it. Try thinking of alternate ways. Add powdered milk to the protien drink to get even more protien. Each little bit helps. I am surprised that you're getting in as much as you are. Fortunately my diet is liquids only and the thought of also getting in protein sounds like too much. As I read posts of those eating food I am amazed, it just seems too soon to put food into an area that's just had surgery. I'm well over 60 oz of water but I've been a big water drinker for years so that part is not new to me. Go with the thought of it being a goal, what's the sense in stuffing yourself? As of Friday I'll move onto full liquids and some soft food. I am getting a bit hungry as its been a week since surgery. Broth is getting old. ~Tiffany

Kristi, I am still on liquids, and even though could be on full liquid, I'm just about too scared to try anything. I dread getting sick, and worry about hurting something inside that is still trying to heal if I did. Fluids are not much of a problem for me now, it was slow going to start with though. I would just try to force a little more each day. Protein... I've been getting that in the shakes, and had the nasty, rotten fruit-tasting ProStat from the hospital when I couldn't drink enough shake. Suggestions... keep trying to get a little more in each day. Be sure to measure it, you never know, you may be getting more in than you thought. Sandy L

Hey Kristi You are not alone. I can only get in 16 oz a day. I just seems like I'm eating all day. Get your protein in, time to eat, drink more water. My stomach is full and my biggest fear is scretching my pouch. My surgeon leaves a feeding tube in for a couple of weeks so I just inject the water in there. kay
