How's everyone doing post op?
Hi guys,
I had my open RNY 1/3 and am doing great. I am back at work after 2 weeks, but tired.
I have had no problems eatting anything I've tried and even sipped a slurpee with no dumping. As of today, I am down 25 lbs.
and very happy. My meals are small, but grilled chicken, fat free cheese, protein shakes, mashed potatoes, yogurt and cottage cheese are my staples now. I can eat more than I thought I would be able to, which has scared me. But, by no means a full portion, maybe 1 cup or a little more, when I was expecting that this would be impossible.
What are your experiences? I'd love to hear.
Lisa
Hi Lisa
I'm happy everything is going good for you.
I'm 7 days post op and I'm doing good. The only struggle is getting the water in. It seems impossible.
I only had one problem with food and that was my first time trying some pureed stuff from the hospital. Since I've been home I can eat....
~1/4 cup of really whipped tuna with FF mayo and lil relish
~few bites of smashed hormel chili sprinkled with cheese or Refried beans
~1/4 Cup of low carb yougart
~4 oz of skim milk with 1 scoop of protein.
Thats what I've been eating and it sits well..
I hope I'm doing ok :shurg: I'll find out when I see my surgeon on the 26th.

I too have found that I can eat larger portions then what I am supposed to. I was able to drink an 8 ounce protein shake the other day with no problem and I was able to eat a few bites of macaroni and cheese
the other night and didn't dump. Today I cut the portion of the shake and I will work on getting more water. I have gained 2 pounds since tuesday. I think its water weight but all the more reason to increase the water and walk walk walk. I feel great otherwise! Have a good weekend!

Yum, Dana, I am so jealous of you!! I have not even cleared my clear liquid diet yet!! On Wednesday I finally get dairy (yogurt, strained cream soups, puddings), but I have to wait another month before I get any real non pureed foods! Mac & cheese sounds sooooo yummy to me!
I am so glad you are doing well!
I don't think I'll be able to make the San Diego lunch tomorrow.
I still hope we get to meet sometime soon!

P.S. Tell C.L. (Celia) that I said hi...she and I spent time together at he OH convention.
I was on liquids for a week and just started food yesterday. I can have the full liquids and pureed stuff for the next three weeks. Cottage cheese and applesauce were on yesterday's menu, just now I ate a half scrambled egg with some melted shredded cheese; my pouch is currently rumbling around but all is well. My goal is 65-70 grams of protein daily and they reinforced that its a goal to reach over the next week, definately not something I can achieve right away.
And I have driving clearance so I am outta this house and off to the store to get...whatever. Cabin fever is rampant!!!!
On Monday I go back to work for a half day, I have a restriction to lift nothing more than 10 lbs which is not an issue anyway.
Have a great weekend!!

I am doing fine here. I went and got my treadmill set up in our breakfast nook area. Had the cable guy come out and hook up the television in there. One problem, I cannot find the key/clip to turn the darn thing on. I think I put it somewhere so the kids would leave it alone and now I can not remember where the heck that is. I just went and ordered 4 new key/clips from the company.
I have a little hole that needs to be repacked and dressed daily. I just took my last lovenox shot.
I am still on full liquids. Yesterday I had 48 oz of H2O. A SF carnation instant breakfast drink with 1 scoop of benaprotein and 2 scoops of dry milk added. One can of cream of chicken soup (strained). Also 1 popsicle. The soup was all 3 meals and the shake was my snacks.
I still can not believe how fast I am full and how uninterested I am in food
Good luck to the rest of ya
Megan
