For those of you feeling a little jealous there are many of us who have very strict guidelines until you get moving and exercise it's hard to get those fluids in. I know noticed the more I exercise the more water and protein drink I can get down. My Doc says 3 weeks of fluids before moving on to soft food. You'll see that I may have tried the puried chicken (deviled chicken) but I tried a soft food that had a bulk of protien in it trying to find more ways to get my protein up. We'll all get there. Those of us who have more restrictions need to stick together. You'll see that we are less likely to stretch our pouch and have more time to break the carb/sugar addiction. Keep walking Cyndi.

What kind of exercise are you all doing besides walking? I was told nothing beyond walking for 4-6 weeks. I do agree that walking helps get in more liquids.
Good point, Chele, regarding the fat in the gravy. I am not a gravy person anyway which may have further caused the reaction.
Sometimes its hard for me to choose meat, up until mid 2005 I'd been living a vegetarian lifestyle for 6 years. Beans and other plant based proteins are my natural choice and helped me lose weight initially but eventually I was eating too much to be satisfied and ended up gaining a lot. My doctors nutritionists all look at me like I have 6 heads when I talk to the vegetarian lifestyle which adds to my frustration. Additionally, both nutrasweet and splenda give me killer headaches so I avoid the SF foods and would rather go without.
Ultimately I am striving for a well balanced and highly nutritious diet that, combined with my pouch, keeps me healthy and lean.
Regarding that broccoli - are you steaming it and and then puree-ing it? Peas, carrots, asparagus, celery, string beans, corn and any other stringy veggie is off limits for 6 months.
Her is what was on my menu on the 21st
B-1 low fat sugar free coffee yogurt
1 tiny piece of oatbran bread
1/2 teaspoon of low fat cream cheese
L-39 grams of turkey deli style and a mozz cheese stick
S-1 cup 0 fat milk
D-2 ounces of finally chewed pork chop-my mouth is turning out to be the best blender! I also prepared two small slices of potato but just couldn't get it down.
Totals?
528 calories
22 fat
29 carb
51 protein

I am still on clear liquids for a few more days then full liquids for two weeks. I am definitely feeling better and want to have food in my mouth. I heard from others they will sometimes chew some food but not swallow it so I experimented with this a bit last evening. Greg ordered a pizza last night for dinner (at my suggestion)---just tomato and cheese. I decided to take an actual bit of the cheese part and chewed it up and spit it out. It didn't taste that good. Most things have an irony or metallic taste. I tried a bite of the pizza crust and that tasted good---still spit it out though after extensive chewing. It seemed a bit weird doing this but it really satified my need to taste and use my teeth/chew.
Mostly I consumed hot teas yesterday and room temp water. I just can't tolerate the taste of the Isopure clear protein drinks beyond a few ounces. Chicken broth doesn't appeal to me either currently (I have at east 10 cans in the cupbaoard...). Anything with neutrasweet tends to make my stomach hurt so I have skipped the jello--- but looking for a brand of gelatin sweetened with splenda. Any ideas?
I am already planning to go shopping today for foods I can have later next week and get some cream soups in the can and maybe some ingredients for a homemade version. For some reason a few spoonfuls of cream of crab soup is what I look most forward to next week. (and the chocolate protein shakes).
