How long till you went home.?
Hi Elsa,
I was only in for one night. On Wednesday my surgery was first at 730am, I was in a room by 1pm. They discharged me on Thursday afternoon, I went home around 5pm. I will say that I was 'textbook' with absolutely no complications. Mom stayed with me the first night, I needed help getting out of bed the first time and then got it OK by myself thereafter. For me the recliner was a trap I could not rise from and the bed was much easier.
Hope that helps.....best wishes for a safe and uneventful procedure!!

I had my surgery on wed. jan 4. Would have gone home on Sat. but had a short reaction on Thurs. night so my Doc kept me till late sun. afternoon. That was actually the normal stay he has his patient keep, 4 days. I was just doing so well he was letting me go home a day early. I was not really ready to go home till Sat., even with Lap. By the time I did get home, I was pretty much back to normal, as far as sleep and awake time. Haven't napped and sleep a normal night. Didn't do this the first few nights in hospital. Glad I had the support of the nurses.
I only stayed one night... but I had VSG, which is a much simpler proceedure. I kinda wished it was a longer hospital stay now, looking back. Because they had the beds that adjusted, which was 100 times better then the chair or couch I got to sleep on when I came home
And don't be nervous, it will be fine. Remember why you are making this choice to get healthy and remember that everyone at the hospital is working for you to ensure your safety and health.
Best of luck for an uneventful surgery and quick recovery!

Hi Elsa,
I went into surgery at 8:00am on 1/6 & went home the morning of 1/8. I luckily only had to stay 2 nights, that was plenty for me. I had lap rny & made it a goal to walk walk walk those halls every day to feel stronger & healthier. I'm now a little over 2 weeks post op & getting ready to go back to work tomorrow.
For the first time in a while I'm looking forward to it. Stange, I know.
Good luck on your upcoming surgery & keep us posted.
Carly
