I see a lot of people are using fitday already. Do you count calories, Fat, Carbs and protein? What is your goal each day? Is there a certain number of calories you try to get in or not go over? Share with me and everyone what you are counting Fat .. No more than how many grams? Protein.. How many grams are you trying to get in each day? Carbs.. ?? Calories... How many??? What are your rules? The only thing I count right now is protein. I wonder if I should be couting and keeping track of everything else? I didn't think right now I ate enough to keep track of everything else. Whatcha think??? *If anyone else has a questions about calories and stuff like that, feel free to ask too. We could all learn something new. Thanks for your help guys Kay

Here is what I was told to focus on for the first three weeks: Fat: At least 20 grams per day Protein: Minimum of 60 grams per day Carbs: Was not discussed Calories:Was not discussed Water: 64 oz per day Calcium: 2 chocolate carmel chews Vitamin: multi vitamin The girl at my work that had the same surgeon, and has had her three week appt said that she was given 4 more pill to take, gall stone prevention pills, b-12 (disolves under the tongue, cherry flavor), and I can not remember the other two. She said the nut did not discuss calories at her visit, but she was advised that she was not eating enough (volume) and needed to kick it up a notch. I am prepared for that conversation. LOL

Thanks Kristie My Doc has me taking 2 tums for calcium, 1 multi vitamin and 1 B-12 that melts under the tounge. He took my galbladder out during surgery because he found two gallsones. I think I'm going to call my nut tomorrow with a few questions. I'm so afraid of eating too much and scretching my pouch too early. The things us ladies must go through to be beautiful and slim Kay

I was only told to try to get at least 60 grams of protein per day. I was not given guidlines for fat and carbs, but was basically told to limit them, choose lowfat, lite, and try to limit carbs to whole grains and try to keep a good balance. I have started fitday again, just to see where I am hitting with them all. I am doing pretty good with protein, but see that I am also getting a lot of fat, so I have tried to cut back a little. I have been a slave to the milk at our lunch room vending machine, which is 2%. I went out and bought a container of Carb Countdown FF milk today and plan to take a thermos to work. It is a difference of about 5 grams of fat and about 8 carbs I will save myself. I doesn't sound like a whole lot, but when you are looking at a days worth of diet, a few grams of fat here and there add up very quickly. We need fat, but we are still fighting against it... I think it is time I am in control... with my pouch as a tool, I can make healthier, better educated choices. You all can too!!! Keep up the great work! This is just about ready to fall into place for so many people. I know it will get easier... we just need to figure out the right combination... Best Wishes! Angela

I am not eating enough to count yet, but I do take note of my carbs. I am not supposed to ever have more then 30g of carbs a day and my protein should make up 70-90% of my caloric intake.

I'm only really counting protein. However I am keeping an eye on sugar grams in everything because I know that is the main cause of dumping and I just don't want to go through that! As force of habit I take note of carbs and saturated fats but not really counting them, just trying to be aware so that when I start eating normal food and meals it will still be ingrained. In a way its a good thing that I am limited on what I can eat because I am forced to snack on fruit all day. Healthy choices!! Beth

Kay, I average 60.6 grams protein, 698 calories, 22 grams of fat and 66 grams of carbs. My nut told me to ignore carbs and calories. She said only whole grain carbs i.e. triscuits, cheerios, grape nuts, etc. She said that these are healthy, so no worries. No white, enriched, etc. carbs. From 3-8 weeks I only can't eat beef, most pork, carbinated drinks, bread and rice. Anything I eat can't have sugar in the first 3 ingrediants. She also showed how a lot of reduced fat or low fat items have sugar added, so I actually skip most of those, but dairys are easy for me to find good low fat. I was looking at peanut butter and the reduced fat have sugar as second item (Jif), so I use, per her suggestion, Simply Jif instead with no sugar added. Have a great day Kay and all the Jans Lisa

Hi there! When I was sent home last Wed my nut told me to make sure I get in 80grams of protein-40-64oz of H2O & my multivitamin, iron, pepcid complete 2x a day and they gave me a b-12 shot before I was discharged so I dont start taking the sublingual until a month out--I personally have been living on isopure powder mixed with 4oz skim lactaid(29g) 2x per day, and then for the rest of my protein I either have a tube of profect protein(25g) or some isopure liquid drink (40g) or some cream of mush soup 4g per cup or dannon low carb yogurt or sf pudding mixed with unjury unflavored protein(around 20g) Im really concentrating on protein protein protein--extremely low sugar if any at all--and water water water--i see the nut in 2 weeks so i will ask her then when I have to start counting calories

Hi everyone, I am tracking protein, my goal is 65-70g a day. Calories and carbs are not items to track. They want about 20g of fat a day and reinforced that fat is important to many organs in the body and helps your BMs. I choose light or low fat dairy but not FF as that has fake fat (chemicals) and increased sugars, they prefer I mirror the 'real world' right away. Sugar content is a biggie, they have the 'sweet 16' rule, if it has more than 16g of sugar per serving I am to pass it up. This does eliminate almost all yogurts, sadly so. The 'sweet 16' is easy to remember.... Carbs should be whole grains, no white flour or refined foods. Rice and spaghetti have been identified as problematic foods and to wait before trying, spaghetti for at least a year as it has a way of reattaching itself together and balling up. Veggies - avoiding anything stringy for at least 3 months, this includes asparagus, celery, string beans. There was a note about mushrooms advising that they should be pureed as they dont break down. As veggies are introduced I am to avoid things with skins or remove the skins (grapes, raisins, peel the zuccini, etc...). No cabbage, onions or other gassy foods for 3 months. In the first months they estimate I'll have about 600-800 calories and eventually plateau at 1000 calories. I have gallbladder meds, one every 12 hours, for three months. I am to take three calcium tabs (or Tums which I think are gross) a day (1800g total). And then a multi plus iron in the AM and PM. Still avoiding vitamin E, garlic and ginger for 3 months as they are all blood thinners and could compromise healing. As a whole I choose organic products where ever possible. And I avoid any foods with splenda or aspartame/nutrasweet as I react badly to chemical additives. Be well, ~Tiffany
