Open RNYers...Swollen?
Hi all,
Just wondering about this. My upper abdomen is swollen...I guess it has been since surgery. That combined with the fact that most of the time when I walk around, I keep my hand where my drain was...because it hurts/burns! When I sit down, I slowly plop on the couch.
It's to the point where I look like I'm pregnant and "carrying high" (it's a girl!!).
Anyway, when did you notice the swelling going down?
Thanks!
Chele
Hi Chele
I had open RNY on 1/13. Under my right breast is where my drain tube was. The day after she "yanked" it out, It started to swell and stick out like I was pregnant (also having a girl). Its still swollen but not as bad as it was. When I walk or stand for a long time it feels like its pulling. I called my surgeon twice and he said it will go away. When I seen him the other day, he said not to worry.
Everyday it gets a little better. If you feel uneasy about it, call your surgeon and ask him. Sometimes hearing them say its ok makes you feel better. Well it does for me!
Take care

I think my girl might finally be starting to go down--I was 1/18. Of course having to have two liters of fluids pumped into me for the stupid kidney stone didn't help any. Anyway, I think I'm flattening out a bit.
But what I notice now is the stupid staples are really starting to hurt. Do you guys have those? How bad do they hurt coming out?? And I guess this stupid tube is going to cause mounds of pain also???
ready to feel normal again!
