Major Craving!

I need to say that I AM grateful to have had this surgery. But, today, I woke up from a nap with a MAJOR craving for a charbroiled chicken salad from Carl's Jr. Had there been one in the house right there and then, I MIGHT have taken a bite! I was really feeling sorry for myself. I'm pretty sick of what I've been eating lately. Never thought I'd say it, but I'm TIRED of mashed potatoes!!! I am really looking forward to next Monday when I can have pureed chicken and tuna and a scrambled EGG!!! Just needed to vent. ~Teri~ 311/279/260/140

Hang in there Teri, it gets better. I've been on the pureed diet for 3 weeks now & I can't wait to end it. I go to the doctor on February7th and can't wait to progress to soft food. I've been craving chinese food & pasta. The smell is the worst, I know once I have a bit I'll be full but so worth it. Take Care & you'll make it through. Carly

I'm looking for sugar. Its been 2 days now and I think about it. Its scaring me as that's the worst addiction and pre op, I was not even a big sugar person. ~Tiffany

How about some fruit Tiffany? I had some applesauce the grannysmith kind and it was really good and not too sweet. Kind of did the trick for me. I know you don't do the equal stuff, but the sf pudding and cocoa has been a life saver. I am a chocoholic

when i craved sugar, i would reach for a SF popcicle, or better yet a NSA fudgesicle.

Tiffany (and everyone else out there), get yourself a bag of Splenda. I swore by it before surgery and even more so now after surgery. It is totally safe for us and can be added to anything. I can eat cream of wheat and am supposed to add dry milk powder for protein. Well it tasted yucky until I added a bit of Splenda to it. It really did the trick. I even make Kool-Aid with it for a sweet drink. Don't worry, you'll find things to help you get in the sweets (SF instant pudding maybe?) without resorting to the "bad" stuff. Emily 1 wk/-10lbs

Thanks for all the suggestions. Aspartame gives me a killer headache and Splenda does as well, it also leaves a residue taste in my mouth that no toothpaste can get rid of for hours. I was not really a sugar person in my 'past' life so I am used to choosing non sugary foods. I am trying to work in more yogurt, I found one that has only trace amts of aspartame and that is helping, I'm also going to start trying more fruit, following up on Ronna's suggestion. Thanks, everyone, and have a good day!!! Tiffany

Teri, Try the underwood chicken, roast beef and deviled ham. It's pureed down and has a little more flavor. :::hugs::: Cyndi
