I took the list of foods I could have to the store and bought everything I havent had yet. I can barely choke down tuna and chicken any longer. Bought some ground turkey, riccota and SF pasta sauce. Patted out the turkey into 1oz balls and cooked them. Added 1oz riccota to a bowl with the turkey and 1oz sauce. Baked it for a few min. YUMMY!!!! Im just happy not to be eatting tuna! Kristi

Hi, Kristi. I'm not sure what you're allowed to have (I had surgery right after you) but I am allowed to have soft proteins. Here's a few things that I eat...just some different suggestions. Gordons frozen, baked fish fillets (come in garlic and butter, Italian seasoning, blackened, etc.). I have one at dinner most nights with two peanut butter crackers (I add a little swipe of extra pnut butter). If you like fish, these are EXCELLENT and have a lot of protein! Turkey or ham roll ups: I take a slice or two (if very thinly sliced) and on the turkey I put a piece of 2% cheese slice and roll it up. Sometimes I heat it, other times cold. The ham I put a little swipe of fat free cream cheese in and roll it up. Yummy! Lots of protein there too. I'm averaging about 65g of Protein a day and not drinking those nasty shakes either. I hate those things. I haven't had one since surgery, not needed. Hope that gives you a little bit of variety. Some times I shred the turkey up and put a scoop of low fat cottage cheese and sort of treat it as a salad, too. Best wishes. Kim

Here's some other ideas: Beans - black and pinto are the softest, its even easier if you buy them from either Baja or Taco Bell. Mixes well with shredded, cottage, goat cheeses Cheese - goat cheese is soft, creamy and 5g protein per serving (best prices at trader joe's), cheese sticks, cottage, chunks. Of course, look for the lowfat or 2%. TJ's also has a low fat yogurt cheese which is yummy. And Ricotta, how could I forget that? Boca products - I personally like the breakfast patties, chicken patties and the crumbles (which I am not supposed to have until after my appt this Friday). In the freezer section. Tofu - if you have a whole foods near you they have seasoned tofu at the salad bar - very high protein and calcium. A helpful website is www.highproteinfoods.com which may offer more ideas suited to individual preferences and our evolving taste buds.

Hey Kristi I am still on pureed so my list of foods that I can have is rather short. I eat tuna almost everyday and I am SICK OF IT too!!! Hopefully when I see the Doc Thursday, he will start me on soft foods. Kay
