Physical Hunger

I do have a question I forgot to put in my last post. The doc said that I wouldn't be feeling hunger pangs. However, I do. It's not head hunger, or the "wanting". I physically feel hungry if I don't eat every 3 or 4 hours. Is anybody else feeling this? Is it normal? Or is there something wrong?

I feel the same thing. It's not head hunger it is the feeling of my stomach gnawing on my insides. I get it about every three hours if I don't eat. It's also a different hunger then I used to feel. I kinda like it though, it keeps me on track to eating a little something every two-three hours and I think will help my weight lose in the long run. You sound perfectly normal to me! Beth

I'm so glad you posted this, because I, too, definitely feel physical hunger. It is definitely my stomach and not my head. Sometimes I wonder if I'm not eating enough at one time since I get these pains about every 3 hours. But, I really think I'm full when I stop eating and I don't want to pu**** for fear of stretching my pouch. At this point I can still only eat about 1/2 egg at a time or a couple of tablespoons of tuna, etc. Anyway, I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. And, I agree, it's kind of nice to feel hungry and then be able to satisfy the hunger with just a little amount of food. Lisa S.

I too have noticed the same thing. I eat less at a meal then I was told I was going to and am definately hungrier then 3 meals a day. I didn't know if I would work into it or what?

My Doc said only 40% of WLS patients don't feel hunger. I feel hunger just like I did before. When my pouch is empty, I feel hunger. I don't feel hunger when it has something in it. Yes, you will feel hungry every to 4 hours, that is how long it takes for the pouch to empty and your body to want more food. Use it to eat every 3 to 4 hours, that way you get your protein in. Just make sure you eat a small amount of low fat food, high fat will make you feel fuller on less food, making you hungery sooner.

Sorry gals but I have no hunger, and have a job just getting in a meal. I just feel better doing my protein drinks an water. My vitamins make me feel over full. I am 1 month out today, and to tell you the truth I don't really care for food at all. Good luck to each of you, and God bless you on your journies. Hugs, Lynda

Yeah, I get hungry. In fact my stomach is rumbling right now and I last ate 3 oz. of cream of celery soup at 5pm (which almost stuffed me -- I had served myself 4 oz. but had to stop). It is now almost 8 pm and I need to eat again. I am still on liquids though and thought once we get on more solid types of food the hunger is less frequent. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Emily
