That is my life to a tee! I get worn out so quickly and it is driving me crazy! But I agree with Chele when she said that our bodies need to complete the healing process. My mom and sister keep telling me that they have to remind themselves that I am recovering from surgery since I do not look like I have had anything done. I do hope that it gets better.... when I am awake, I feel better than I have in a LONG time and I want to DO stuff!! Cherise

What you are all describing are signs that you're likely over medicated on your BP meds, especially being dizzy or seeing stars when you bend over. I was SHOCKED that this happened to me at 3 weeks out but I went to the doctor, they put me on a half pill for 10 days and now I am off of them. Let me tell you, my energy immediately started to climb and now that I am off of them I feel normal again. I agree that we need more rest as part of healing but if you are on BP meds, get yourself to your PCP and have it checked!!!!

Thanks for the tip. I hope it helps someone outthere. I wasn't on any BP meds so that can't be the problem. Though I'm not completelly rulling out low blood pressure. My mom's got it. I have an appointment with the Dr. and nut tomorrow. Maybe they can shed some light.

YES! I had more energy the week I came home from the hospital. My doctor says that I will feel this way for at least another 6-8 weeks post op. It helps when I eat a really good protein - deli sliced turkey or chicken or a protein drink, but lately I haven't had much of an appetite so I have to force myself to eat. Also my doctor told me that the more activity the better. I'm walking 30 minutes a day and doing chores around the house. I think that helps too. When I told the doctor how tired I felt he said, "You just had major surgery! Pamper yourself, when you get tired rest or take a nap. It's not like you have major surgery every day." I've heeded those words and every afternoon I take a nap, regardless of how much sleep I got the night before. Remember your body is not only healing from the trauma of surgery, but also trying to adjust to the caloric intake. It will take time, but hang in there, it will get better. Water, protein, vitamins, exercise and rest are going to be your best friends! Kim

I to was feeling the same way and called the DR and he took me off my BP meds and it is better but not 100%. That will come with time. That is all we have to do is "hurry up and wait." Patience is something that I could use a good dose of. LOL Cathy

hi All, had my surgery 1/20 and am still tired too. I have had a lot of other surgeries over the years so I really do know that it takes about 6 weeks or more for your body to adjust. My doctor will give me a B12 shot at six weeks and said that is when I will see a big diference. Rosemary

Hi- I've been taking B12 sublingual. But maybe tomorrow I'll ask for a shot. Maybe that will help.

Hey Judie I had surgery on 1-13 and was feeling the same way. I felt like I had NO energy at all. Even eating and taking a shower made me tired. I called my surgeon and he said its normal. He also said making sure you get enough water and protein in will help. The past two days I am just starting too feel like I'm getting my energy back. Just remember our bodies just went through a major surgery and we are not eating the amount of food were were eating before. Make sure you take all your Vitamins!! Hang in there, It gets better Take Care Kay

*raises my hand*..I dont remember EVER feeling so lethargic and tired as I do right now..my protein intake isnt bad but my water comsunmption leaves alot to be desired...nothing tatses good to drink..but my pouch, Rufus, doesnt seem to mind hot tea and Cup-a-Soup...so I guess its more of that! I dont FEEL like Ive been sliced, diced and re-arranged inside so this state of "laziness" or lack of energy makes me feel guilty for hanging around like this. Im not on any meds....chewing up my Flintstones..BLECH! chewable calcium and taking B12 under my tongue. But I CANT sleep...I lay in the dark for hours til I finally drop off then sleep well into the afternoon as a result. Because of that, I dont dare take a nap because then that will rob me of even more sleep at night. My doctor gave me some Atavan to melt under my tongue but it doesnt work..I even tried TWO at a time, I still lay wide awake for hours in the dark...maybe if I could get more sleep.... Nancy B

From my nut. At 2-4 weeks post op some people experience what she calls hibernation syndrom. The body figures out it isn't getting the usual calories and responds with trying to store everything. You feel tired irritable and don't want to move. She says it will pass in a few weeks once the body figures out it can burn it's fat stores. Exercise helps. I know I have hit this as well.
