My surgeons office says I cant have pork or beef for 6 months after surgery I just wanted to do a poll and see what everyone elses dieticians said to them because if the majority are eating it, I want to try it soon and just see if my stomach agrees with it, I love my red meat!!!!!!! thank you very much

I'm 4 weeks post-op and I'm still on soft foods. I can have beef if it's mashed or 'potted'. In 2 weeks I'll be 6 weeks post op and have no restrictions. Only cautioned to try new foods slowly. I love beef and would have a hard time waiting 6 months. good-luck! Bridget

around 3 weeks post-op, still on pureed stage, and i put some ham salad in the food processor and made everything really fine, and then even chewed it. big mistake. ham was a big no-no for me!!! but if you really want to try, no one's going to stop you! good luck! ~liz

Your profile doesn't say when you had your surgery. I had mine 1/16 I am 4 weeks and two days out. I am now on the soft food stage of the postop diet. The meats I am allowed are: 1)TENDER CUTS OF LEAN MEATS (BEEF, PORK, POULTRY), FISH, SHELLFISH 2) TUNA SALAD, CHICKEN SALAD, EGG SALAD - NO ONION OR CELERY, PICKLES/RELISH I had beef stew the other night, made it with lentils and cauliflower instead of potatoes. I cooked it for 4 hours in the oven so it was very tender. I made a pot so we had a few days worth of food. I did not have a problem eating it the stew on night one. I had some the second night and it felt really heavy. It did not make me sick, it just felt heavy. I have also had meatballs and salsbury steak. They were fine. I have not tried anything that has made me sick or dump. I thought I would throw that in there just in case you have a sensitive pouch. God Bless! Jen

Hi Lora, I can't have pork or beef either until 4-5 months out. I can however have ground beef, which I thought was a little weird. Carly

I've had ground beef in my Wendy's Chilli and I even tried steak once but got the foamies, so will wait awhile before I do that again.

In a week I'll be six weeks out and have no restrictions, however, my surgeon RECOMMENDS that I wait "several months" to try beef because so many post-ops have problems with it. I doubt I will wait several months, but will be very careful when I do decide to give it a try.

My surgeon says no pork but I can have beef if its in a stew and very very tender. I haven't tried it yet. kay
