Dry Skin?

I know it's winter and every winter my skin gets dry, but it seems so much worse this year. I put lotion on all day and nothing helps. I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I get my water in, but I used to drink over a gallon a day so I figure that might have something to do with it. Amy

Hi Amy, Our windchills today at -25 degrees. I dont think we could moisturise our skin if we dunked ourselves in vats of lotion. A humidifier in your house may help. Are you getting any fat in your diet? E also helps skin but check with your surgeon first as its a blood thinner and some have restrictions on that kinda stuff within a few minutes pre or post surgery. Tiffany

I am totally dry, although strangely my hubby says that my skin feels like silk. He loves it, but I am flaking all over -- and in California, so it can't be from the cold. I even have really bad dandruff, which I have never had before. I am not getting in all my fluids though, so I assume it has something to do with a lack of hydration. All I can say, is keep sip-sipping those fluids and rub-rubbing that moisturizer. Good luck to us all. (This dandruff is grossing me out, personally). Emily

Hi Amy, I am also extremely dry all over. I havr not been drinking all my water though but this is crazy, I am so ashy and dry it hurts. I have been using baby oil in the shower before I dry off and it seems to be helping so far. ~Dawn

hi amy! my stomach is flaking like crazy! no matter how many times a day i slather on lotion, a few seconds later, it goes right back to the way it looked 5 seconds ago. i don't know if i'm losing the majority of my weight from there or what! i'm getting in about 60 oz. of liquid a day average. is anyone else putting scar creme on their incisions? ~liz

I have had really dry, flaky skin, too. Lotion wasn't doing the trick for me. I have been rubbing baby oil all over myself after my shower before I dry off, when I still have water all over me. It has really helped! It seems to seal the moisture in.

I, too, have noticed that my skin is drier than it used to be. I am thinking that the surgery and not getting enough of something (not sure what) is doing it. I am using more lotion than ever before which isn't a bad thing anyway. But yes, I am having more dry skin than normal. Kim
