Went for the 5 week checkup today and got the G-tube removed---YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!! Asked Dr whether the Frankenstein Butt Stomach will ever flatten out and he said "GIVE IT TIME. YOU'LL BE REAL PLEASED IN THE LONG RUN" Sorry about yelling there--didn't realize cap lock was on! On a sad note--my scale is weighing me 10 pounds lite. It may well have to be condemned!!!! I thought I was 209 and find out its really 219. Oh the pain, the pain of it all! De

Well It's good to hear that we wont have the Frankenstein Butt stomach forever. I want details on how the G tube felt getting removed! I get mine out Thursday and I cant wait. It has been bothering me the last couple nights. I hate when it moves. Did it hurt? Do they do it fast? Kay

Kay, First they clipped the suture (that in my case was no longer holding the tube in place) and then took a plunger and sucked all the gunk out. After that, they just pulled it out. Took about 5 minutes, if that much. It made me kind of nauseous, just because it was gross. But, even grosser is this: I brought mine home. My oldest son is in advanced classes (freshman) and his biology teacher promised him bonus points if he brought the monster in! He's getting it with bile, gunk and everything. YUK!!!!!! De

Thanks for the details De. That didn't seem too bad. Your son deserves major bonus points for bringing the "monster" in and even extra points for being able to look at all the gunk around it. Thanks again Kay

It wasnt bad at all, although, my heart skipped a beat when he said he needed a scapel. I thought "oh, God! He's going to cut me open with no anesthesia." He needed the scapel to cut the suture away so he could suck out the gunk! By the way! I just looked at the pictures and it looks like the frankenbutt will be gone soon!!!

Kay, I was scared silly to get mine out, because the other tube they took out in the hospital hurt so bad ( I thought I was going to die!)..And a friend told me that a friend of hers had one and she said when they took it out it was the worst thing ever.. So I was terrified! So I went to a support group meeting at the hospital about 1 week before they removed it, and asked about it.. Everyone laughed and said you wont feel it. There is nothing to it. Even a 60 year old man said he was a big baby and he barely felt it come out.. So that made me fell a little better... So when I went it that day (I got mine out at my 2 week checkup) I asked for pain meds.. She laughed at me. And said its already out. I didnt feel anything but a little tug, I thought she was still cutting the stitches off. It felt a little weird but it was not painful.. They didnt suck and thing out of mine or plunge it or anything.. Just put pressure on it for a couple minutes and I was free of that tube and free to go home. So hang in there.. You'll be ok! And you will feel 100% better to get that thing out! Michelle

Hey Michelle Thanks for telling me about your experience with the G tube. I go tomorrow and I am so nervous. In the hospital when they took the drain tube out, that was the worst feeling. I'm thinking this will be worse. Now you tell me that its not so bad, I feel better. Thanks again Kay

Regarding the scale, I look at it this way. I measured myself on the scale at home, it may not have matched the scale at the Doc's office, however, it is still saying how many pounds I lost. It always matches how many pounds the doctor says I lost. His the actual weight number is about 5 lbs different. So I don't say I'm 217.5, I say, I've lost 30 pounds ::hugs:: Cyndi
