You are doing great. Did you know that walking around the block once is exercise as opposed to sitting down. I proved to my Doc that I was exercising by using the Fit Day program and I printed out some reports and they were like oh okay. I've only lost 30 lbs since January 9. Don't worry, all bodies work differently. You should be extremely proud of yourself!!! ::hugs:: Cyndi

What a jerk! My Doc says walking is the best thing for the first 6 weeks, then increase slowly. Do not do more than you are comfortable doing...it is your body not his.

Dawn, So sorry your doc isn't exactly "supportive"! I think you are doing wonderfully! You are showing so much effort and 34 lbs is great! Chele

Dawn, you have every right to vent. This guy sounds like a jerk and I agree that he definitely skipped his "patient relation" class and apparently went to Starbucks instead! I'm shocked that any physician would allow their patient to exercise (other than a treadmill) earlier than 4 weeks. You are still healing and you shouldn't be pushing weight training, et****il you are fully healed. I think you are doing awesome! Keep up the good work and do as much as you can, not what you think you need to do to make someone else happy. Lisa S.

Dawn, I'm so sorry that your Dr. isn't more supportive. When I went to my 2 week appt. I had lost 20lbs. and to be honest, I was a little down on myslef thinking I should have done better. To my surprise the PA I saw said "Wow, you are doing great! You've lost 20 pounds; that's more than average. Average is about 5-10 pounds." So, don't get down on yourself 34 pounds is huge (probably more than 10 percent of your starting body weight, am I right?) Go pick up 7 bags of sugar from the supermarket (5 pounds each) and then tell me that isn't a lot of weight to have lifted off your frame. WAY TO GO! We're all proud of you here and you have actually exceeded many of our own 1 month weight drops. So, although you need your Dr., turn to us for the praise. Emily

Emily, You know, you're right. I never realized I lost more than 10% of myself in a month. I did join the gym on Wednesday. I have only done cardio so far. Honestly doing weight training would be foolish. Why bother toning muscles that are covered with a layer of fat? Today I did a 28 min routine on the bike and 35 mins on the elliptical. I burned over 800 calories between the two. That's good considering I don't even eat 800 calories in a day. Thanks for the encouragement!!! Love, Dawn
